The Sydney 2009 World Masters Games will be held from 10-18 October 2009 and will see over 25,000 competitors from 100 countries take part in 28 sports. The Games offer an Olympic-Style experience for competitors of all abilities; to be eligible all you need to do is meet the minimum age requirements for your chosen sport. Contrary to popular belief, Masters Competitors do not have to be that advanced in years. The average age of a Masters competitor is in the low 40s, although there are many who fall well above that figure, including several centenarians. It is a fantastic opportunity to meet people from around the world and forge new and lasting friendships.
All this adds up to another compelling reason to visit the city that Condé Nast Traveller readers have voted the best on a record dozen occasions.
With 40,000 years of aboriginal history and from its convict origins as the first European settlement in Australia, Sydney grew up to become the country's largest and most exciting city. Fri. October 09. Arrive in Sydney. After clearing Customs and Immigration, you will be met and transferred to your hotel to relax and enjoy your first day Downunder.
Sat. October 10 to Sun. October 18. The Sydney 2009 World Masters Games 9 days of competition and fun as you meet people from around the World. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held during this period (dates/venues to be confirmed).
Mon. October 19. Depart Sydney for your return home, you will gain the day you lost on your outbound journey and will arrive back in North America on the same day (October 19). Price Includes:
Roundtrip economy class airfare from Vancouver* (CAD$) or Los Angeles* (USD$), roundtrip airport to hotel transfers, 10 night's accommodation.
Not Included:
Airline departure taxes / fuel surcharges (at present approx $410 from LA and $420 from Vancouver, subject to change until tickets are issued), cancellation and medical insurance, fuel surcharges by land suppliers if applied.
