Nazca Experience

Lima - Nazca - Lima
Stretching across the Nazca plains like a giant map or blueprint left by ancient astronauts, lie the famous Nazca Lines of Peru. The Nazca Lines are an enigma. No one has proof who built them or why. Since their discovery, the Nazca Lines have inspired fantastic explanations from ancient gods, a landing strip for returning aliens, a celestial calendar created by the ancient Nazca civilization. Our Nazca Lines Overview trip is the perfect way to fill your day in Lima when waiting for your flight home!

Itinerary:
Day 1. Lima - Paracas - Nazca Lines - Paracas
This morning (approx 6:30AM) you are transferred from your hotel by private mini van for your journey to Paracas (+/- 4hrs) close to the Peruvian coast from where your flight over the Nazca lines begins. You then board the light aircraft, a small Cessna single-engine aircraft which has spacious room for 12 people, each person with a window seat for your flight over the lines. (Flight time +/- 70 mins).
Scattered over 500 square kilometers of an arid plateau between the Nazca River and Ingenio River, exist huge representations of geometric patterns, animals, humans figures and thousands of perfectly straight lines that go on for kilometers. The images on the ground are so huge, that the only way to fully observe them is only from the sky which is where you find yourself now.
In a matter of minutes you will be flying over the Nazca Lines zone. Flying over the Nazca desert you can marvel looking at the perfect shape of a monkey, a spider, a while, a lizard and various types of birds, including humming birds, sea birds, and the mighty Andean Condor.
After the 70 minute flight and clutching your certificate of proof of your flight you are transferred to Paracas where you have the option to sample some Pisco Sours and Peruvian Seafood! Check into your hotel.
Day 2. Paracas - Lima
Paracas is spa, a peninsula, a bay, a pre-Inca Culture and a National Reserve. Its amazing for birdwatchers and hikers.
The desert and the sea come together in spectacular landscapes in Paracas, in the department of Ica, just a few hours south from Lima. The cliffs that fringe the beaches are teeming with life, millions of birds that live here year-round, and thousands of others that fly from the northern hemisphere and from further south, ranging from guano birds to Humboldt penguins.
Boats departure from the port to Islas Ballestas (Ballesta Islands), giving visitors a chance to gaze at the sea lion colonies, millions of birds and you'll see the famous three-pronged Candelabro (Candelabrum), carved into the sand with a similar technique to the Nazca Lines, although possibly of a different origin: theories range from pirates marking a treasure hiding place to soldiers fighting for Latin-American independence from Spain.
A boat journey from Paracas to the Ballestas Islands passing the Candelabro follows our arrival into paracas.
These spectacular islands, eroded into many caves and arches, provide shelter for thousands of seabirds and hundreds of sea-lions. Although the islands fall just outside the Paracas National Reserve they are protected by separate legislation. The islands are home to over 150 species of marine bird including the Humboldt penguin, cormorants, boobies and pelicans. Even condors have been known to visit. On the shores can be seen large numbers of sea-lions and in the sea it is possible to encounter dolphins and even whales.
After a day of nature exploration we return by private mini van to Lima (+/- 4hrs) arriving approximately at 5:30PM where services end.
Why not add one of our Unique Dining Experiences to cap off what is truly a memorable day. B
