EAST JAVA INTERLUDE

Day 1. Arrive Surabaya.
You will be met by Goway's representative and your journey starts into the highlands around the volcano Gunung Arjuna. Stop at the Majapahit kingdom relics, the old Singosari temple, with its giant Dwarapala, and proceed to the village of Batu and further on to Selecta, a beautiful small hillside village. A short walk brings you to the hot springs of Cangar. On the way back to Batu, stop at the waterfall of Songgoriti. Check-in at your hotel in Batu and the remainder of the day is at your leisure. (L)
Day 2. Surabaya – Malang.
After breakfast depart for Malang. Before checking in at your hotel, enjoy the large bird market and tour through parts of the old city. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, take a guided bike tour to see the many colonial buildings along the shadowed Jalan Ijen. Stop for a rest at Toko Oen, a cafe dating back nearly 100 years. Later, return to your hotel to relax. (BL)
Day 3. Malang to Bromo.
Today you will drive from Malang to the mountainous Bromo region up to Wonotoro village. You will have lunch en route. Upon arrival, you will have time at leisure or can join a guided tour around the hillside village. (BL)
Day 4. Sukapura, Bromo – Surabaya.
An early 4:00a.m. wake up for a morning excursion to Bromo to watch the spectacular sunrise (weather permitting) and the crater of Mt. Bromo. Later drive to the slope of Mt. Bromo and climb the 253 steps to the top of the caldera. Return to the hotel for breakfast. In the afternoon, transfer to the Surabaya airport for your onward flight. (B)
