JAKARTA STOPOVER
3 days
Jakarata is the capital and largest city of Indonesia, located on the northwest coast of Java, with one of the largest population than any other city in Southeast Asia. Jakarta is the country's economic, cultural and political centre. Jakarta is always bustling, and here you have one of the best night life and tons of good shopping.
Day 1. Arrive Jakarta.
You will be met at the airport and then proceed onto a half day sightseeing tour of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (“Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park”). This 100 hectare cultural center showcases the entire archipelago reproduced in miniature, allowing you to get a glimpse of the diversity here. It also includes an aviary, an orchid garden, cable cars and a craft shop. It is true a reflection of the national motto “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” or Unity in Diversity. The park also has an Imax Theater, Museum Indonesia and Bird Park. Afterwards you will be transferred to your hotel for overnight. (L)
Please Note: The Park is Closed on Monday
Day 2. Jakarta sightseeing.
Today enjoy a half day Jakarta city tour, first visiting the oldest China Town in Jakarta. Here you will find open markets, small shops with quaint alleys showcasing typical Chinese architecture. Next visit Sunda Kelapa Harbour, the city’s oldest harbour located in the head of Batavia. This harbour was first used by Portuguese and Dutch when they arrived in Indonesia. En route, you’ll pass a drawbridge from the 17th Century. Then continue onto Fatahillah Museum, original built by the Dutch in 1710 as Jakarta’s City Hall or “Stad Huis”, which houses antique furnishings, porcelains, old maps and portraits, an underwater jail and other items used by the former Dutch Governor General. Stop for lunch and then continue to an Old Dutch Colonial house which contains collections of Javanese leather “Wayang” puppets, wooden “Golek” puppets and masks of Indonesia. The former Old Dutch Governor General graveyard is also here. Transfer back to your hotel and the remainder of the day is at your leisure. (BL)
Please Note: All museums are closed on Monday and Public Holidays. If your tour falls on these day, you have the alternative to visit Istiqlal Mosque, Cathedral and Antique Market.
Day 3. Jakarta at leisure.
The day is free until your transfer to the airport for next flight. (B)
