There is a "place of peace" nestled amongst coconut palms which leads to a private crescent beach touching brilliant turquoise sea. This place is Amanpuri, on Thailand's jade green island of Phuket, where nature and culture harmoniously merge, yielding a pure tranquillity where less means more and luxury is found in graciousness.

The sense of 'belonging' while staying at Amanpuri is, in part, due to the authentic and sympathetically conceived architecture exposing swooping multi-tiered roof-lines, understated, but deeply comfortable, locally inspired, air-conditioned interiors, outside salas or private dining decks. These are connected by a series of elevated walkways, which lead to the cool and expansive reception area, the long exotic slate-blue pool, reflecting statuesque palms and tropical skies, and the sweeping stone steps down to the beach. The gentle fragrance of the ubiquitous frangipani flower gently permeates the soft sea air.

All Amanpuri's 40 pavilions feature an outdoor sala, a king-size bed, separate bath and shower, refrigerator with minibar, electronic safe, stereo system, IDD services and air-conditioning. Wireless broadband connections are available in all resort accommodation and public areas. Pavillion rates are determined according to view and location, pavilion 105 and 103 enjoy the best views of the Andaman Sea.

villa homes

Adjacent to the resort, almost hidden by coconut palms, are 30 Villa Homes, many with ocean-front settings. Each villa consists of two to six separate bedrooms finished with Thai furnishings, art and antiques. Villas also enjoy a private pool plus living and dining Thai salas. A live-in maid and cook attend to all guests' needs, including the preparation of Thai cuisine in a private kitchen. Amanpuri villas are ideal for small business meetings, weddings and special events.

The resort's crescent-shaped white-sand beach is located at the foot of a cascading sweep of stone steps leading from the resort's 27m main pool, restaurants and bar. The beach is lined with sun deck chairs and umbrellas. Amanpuri's friendly 'beach boys' are available to offer the menu for light refreshments as well as cool cocktails and drinks, cold towels and ice. They will also ensure your feet are kept cool by watering pathways in the sand on the beach.

Complimentary windsurfing, snorkelling, sea kayaking, body boarding, Hobie cat and Laser sailing are available on the beach. Beach boys are qualified to offer instruction as needed. A nearby reef is flush with fish. We offer complimentary fins, snorkels and masks at the beach. The best snorkelling is above the coral reef, between the swimming platform and the headland in front of the villas. Snorkellers can swim among the fish or hand feed them. At 8:30am every day, guides take the guests for a snorkel to the area where a population of reef fish are eager to be fed. 18ft Searay Bowriders driven by trained crew, are available for water-skiing, for a nominal fee. All these activities are available between December and April, weather and tide permitting.
