Classic Thailand mapDay 1. Arrive Bangkok. On arrival in Bangkok, you will be met by Goway's representative and transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2. Touring Bangkok. Today visit the famous Grand Palace and glorious temples including the Reclining Buddha. The afternoon is free. This evening experience an authentic Thai dinner, cultural performances and classical dances in a beautifully decorated Thai style house. BD

Day 3. Touring Bangkok. Today's full day sightseeing includes a visit to Thailand's most colourful Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. The markets are Thailand's largest and most colourful. The tour includes a visit to Phra Pathom Chedi. Standing 127 meters, this is the tallest Buddhist pagoda in the world. Lunch will be served at the picturesque Rose Garden Country Resort.

After lunch, enjoy a Thai Village show, giving an introduction to Thai life. You will witness an ordination into monk hood, fingernail dance, Thai boxing, hill tribe dance, sword fighting, elephants at work and folk dancing. Return to Bangkok and to your hotel where the balance of the day is at leisure. Take time tonight to visit some of Bangkok's famous night markets for some excellent bargains. BL


Bangkok StatuesDay 4. Bangkok/Ayutthaya/ Lopburi/ Phitsanulok. Depart Bangkok in the morning for northern Thailand. The first stop is at Bang Pa In, the former summer residence of the kings of Ayutthaya built in the 18th century. There you'll visit the Royal Palace, the Thai pavilion, the Chinese-style Palace Vihat Chamrun with their trimmed bushes in elephant shapes. Continue to Ayutthaya, which used to be the capital of Siam from 1350 to 1767 and visit the most interesting temples. Proceed to Lopburi, visiting Phra Prang Sam Yod, a temple with three towers and impressive ornaments as well as the shrine of the Hindu Goddess Kali at the Sarn Prakarn Temple. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant then continue on to Phitsanuloke.

Day 5. Phitsanulok/Sukhothai/Chiang Rai. After breakfast, proceed to Sukhothai, the first capital (13th century) of the Thai Kingdom. Old Sukhothai is one of Asia's most important historical sites and therefore under the supervision of UNESCO. After a visit of the temples Wat Sra Sri and Wat Sri Chum, you continue to Sri Satchanalai, the former sister town of Sukhothai for lunch and a visit to some of its most interesting temples and ruins. Later, you will drive further North to Chiang Rai and the balance of the evening is at your leisure.

Day 6. Chiang Rai. North Thailand is well known for its exotic hill tribes and this morning you will visit some of their villages. The drive travels through beautiful landscape with spectacular views of the Akha and Yao hill tribe's villages. Then continue to Mae Sai, which is the most northern town of Thailand on the border of Burma. After lunch, continue to the center of the infamous "Golden Triangle", the meeting point of the borders of Burma, Laos and Thailand. Visit the old Opium House before continuing to the provincial town of Chiang Saen, which is located at the scenic borders of the Mekong River. BL

Day 7. Chiang Rai/Chiang Mai. Following your breakfast at the hotel, you will drive to Mae Ka Chan, which is famous for its hot springs. Then continue your trip through scenic hillsides and jungles to Chiang Mai, the "Rose of the North". Lunch will be at a local restaurant before arrival into Chiang Mai. Drive to Wat Phra Dhat Doi Suthep mountain temple then continue to the hotel. In the evening, a traditional 'Kantoke' dinner is on the program. Typical Thai dishes from the northern region are served while elegant Thai dancers perform.

Thai GirlDay 8. Chiang Mai. In the morning, after breakfast, you will visit an elephant camp to see how elephants work and, if you prefer, take an optional elephant ride. Visit the Orchid & Butterfly Farm before enjoying a local lunch. Next, visit the handicraft villages at San Kampaeng. The various forms of traditional handicrafts are fascinating to watch and there are chances to purchase the pieces the local Thais create also. The balance of the day is free to enjoy Chiang Mai's Night Market or just relax. BL

Day 9. Chiang Mai/Phuket. Transfer to the airport for your flight to the resort of Phuket in Southern Thailand. Upon arrival, you will be met by your guide for the transfer to your hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure.

Day 10. Phuket. Today you will start your tour with a transfer to the Phuket Pier where you will board a cruiser for your departure to Phi Phi Island. Spend approximately 45 minutes travelling by cruiser from Phuket enjoying the beauty of the region. There will be ample time for sightseeing on Phi Phi Le and Maya Bay, where the “The Beach” was filmed. Next, you will be transferred by a smaller boat for snorkeling and swimming in the crystal clear waters of the Andaman Sea.

After lunch, the balance of the afternoon is free to sunbathe, swim or shop at your leisure until your return cruise back to Phuket Pier. Upon arrival, you will be transferred back to your hotel. BL

Day 11. Phuket. At leisure. A totally free day to enjoy the island. B

Day 12. Phuket/Bangkok. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Bangkok. On arrival in Bangkok, you will be met and taken to your hotel for overnight. Remainder of the day at leisure for last minute shopping or a relaxing Thai massage. Amari Atrium Hotel (1 night) B

Day 13. Bangkok/North America. Transfer to Bangkok airport for your flight to North America or other destinations within South East Asia arriving the same day. B
