Introduction

The Indian Pacific is the longest and one of the greatest rail journeys on earth. It is an ocean to ocean adventure in a comfortable three day journey - a total of 4352km in 65 hours.

Leaving Sydney, travel through the Blue Mountains before crossing the countryside of New South Wales. Make an "Outback" stop at Broken Hill. Continue south to Adelaide, the "Festival City" and one of Australia's premium wine growing areas. Travel onto the Nullarbor Plain - flat and arid yet fascinating, with 478km of straight track, the longest in the world. Arrive at Kalgoorlie, a thriving historic gold mining town. Finally - beautiful Perth.
