Tasmania, a short plane ride or overnight cruise from the mainland, offers a world of difference from the rest of Australia. Much of its wild spectacular scenery and stunning unspoiled wilderness is protected as National Park and is home to some extraordinary plant and animal life. See the best of Tasmania through this Goway travel idea, which includes visits to Salmon Ponds, Bonorong Wildlife Park, Tahune Airwalk and Port Arthur. Just to name a few.
Day 1. Arrive in Hobart. Upon arrival you will be me at transferred by private car transfer to your accommodation The remainder of your day is at leisure. Hotel Grand Chancellor, Hobart - 3 nights).
Day 2. Hobart - Bonorong Wild Life Park - Mt. Field - Russell Falls. Travel to Bonorong Wildlife Park to experience the Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, Wallabies, Echidnas, Quolls, Koalas and other Tasmanian animals first hand. Afterwards continue to Mount Field National Park where you will have a delightful Tasmanian lunch served in the outdoors.
In the Park you will enjoy a rainforest walk to Russell Falls and complete a beautiful circuit via Horseshoe Falls, Tall trees and Lady Barron Falls, returning along by the riverside. Free evening in Hobart (Dinner is at own expense). (L)
Day 3. Mt Wellington - Huon Valley Wine & Food. Depart after breakfast for Mt Wellington (1270 m) for stunning views over southern Tasmania (weather dependant). Then continue along the Huon Trail, alongside waterways and secluded beaches, past the coastal towns of Margate and Kettering.
First stop is the Grandvewe Sheep Cheesery to discover how our local cheeses are made. This is followed by a stroll through the village of Woodbridge and lunch at the Hartzview vineyard with its spectacular mountain views. Continue via Cygnet along the beautiful Huon River to Huonville and complete the afternoon with a stop at a boutique vineyard to sample their wines before returning to Hobart and your hotel. Free evening in Hobart (Dinner is at own expense). (B, L)
Day 4. Port Arthur - Bicheno/Coles Bay. Depart for Port Arthur Historic Site, the remains of Tasmania's famous convict settlement. The site features many attractions and our experienced tour manager will bring its history alive. Morning tea is at the site.
Continue to the sunny East Coast and stop for lunch along the beautiful coastline. Continue to Bicheno, a once sleepy fishing village and to your waterfront units. Dinner will be taken in the hotel. Later in the evening penguins will be viewed in the wild, in close proximity to the hotel. Overnight Diamond Island Resort, Bicheno (B, L, D)
Day 5. Freycinet National Park - Wineglass Bay - Launceston. Enjoy a scenic tour of the Freycinet National Park and Coles Bay with its exceptionally beautiful coastline. Take a short walk along Friendly Beaches, where white sand meets the stunning orange rocks of the coast. Visit the local Lighthouse and lookout before departing on your walk to the world famous Wineglass Bay lookout (1.5 hr return).
Options for non-walkers include spending time on Richardson's Beach in the vicinity of Freycinet Lodge. After lunch, depart for the historic midlands and Tasmania's northern city of Launceston where your tour manager will drop you off at your hotel. Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston (B, L)
Day 6. Depart Launceston. You will be transferred by private car to Launceston Airport Depart Launceston.
