7 days Classic Itinerary

If you want to experience the "best of" of New Zealand on an independent basis, but have limited time, here is the classic itinerary.

Day 1. Arrive Auckland. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel as chosen below. The rest of the day is at your leisure to enjoy this "City of Sails".

Day 2. Auckland to Rotorua. Travel to Waitomo Caves for a guided tour of the Glowworm Grotto. Enjoy a BBQ lunch and tonight a traditional Maori concert and hangi (feast). LD

Day 3. Rotorua Sightseeing. Visit Rainbow Springs, Rainbow Farm, Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, and Te Puia. The afternoon is at leisure.

Day 4. Rotorua to Queenstown. Fly to Queenstown (airfare not included), New Zealand's adventure capital. The remainder of the day at leisure in this alpine resort.

Day 7. Queenstown to Christchurch. Travel through some of New Zealand's most dramatic landscapes to Christchurch arriving in the early evening. Tour concludes.

7 days Classic Itinerary

Day 1. Arrive Christchurch. On arrival in Christchurch, the "Garden City", you will be met and transferred to your hotel. We suggest that you take the chance to enjoy a historic tram ride, go shopping or visit the Botanical Gardens.

Day 2. Christchurch/Mount Cook /Queenstown. Today travel south, across the Canterbury Plains, through the Mackenzie country via Lake Tekapo where you can view the solitary Church of the Good Shepherd. Continue alongside the Tasman River to Mount Cook National Park. Consider a scenic flight over some of New Zealand's finest alpine scenery. Continue on to the Lindis Pass, and through the Kawarau Gorge to Queenstown, New Zealand's adventure capital.

Day 3. Milford Sound. (subject to road and weather conditions) Travel along the shores of Lake Wakatipu to Te Anau, gateway to the Fiordland National Park. View the Mirror lakes as you continue through the Eglinton Valley. From the Homer Tunnel emerge into the Cleddau Valley. Join your Milford Sound Red Boat cruise, for an unforgettable experience, and explore the wonder of this majestic fiord. Journey to the mouth of the sound and see the seals and dolphins which inhabit this part of the world. Return to Queenstown.

Day 4. Queenstown at Leisure. A free day to enjoy the many leisure pursuits on offer. Staff at "The Station" can assist with information and reservations for the huge selection of things to see and do.

Day 5. Queenstown/Rotorua. (Airfare not included) Fly to Rotorua, New Zealand's geothermal wonderland, where you be transferred to your hotel. The rest of you day is to enjoy at leisure

Day 6. Rotorua Sightseeing. Today experience the many varied sights that Rotorua has to offer. Visit the wildlife Paradise Valley Springs, a performing sheep show at the Agrodome and the Te Whakarewarewa Thermal reserve. Learn about traditional Maori crafts at the Te puia Arts and Crafts Institute and then enjoy an afternoon at leisure. Perhaps take a tour to Mt. Tarawera or the Buried Village. This evening enjoy a unique Maori Hangi (feast) and concert.

Day 7. Rotorua/Waitomo/Auckland. Travel north by coach this morning stopping for lunch in the rural surrounds of the King Country. Continue on via the Waitomo Caves and enjoy a guided tour of the famous Glowworm Grotto. Continue on to Auckland arriving at approx. 4:30 p.m. Your arrangements conclude on arrival.
