This distinctive itinerary combines unusual touring activities with some of the finest accommodations in New Zealand.
Day 1. Arrive Auckland. You will be met and transferred by private car to The Hilton Auckland for your 2 night stay. Hilton Auckland (2 nights)
Day 2. Sailing Auckland Harbour. Today you will enjoy a 2 hour sail of Auckland Harbour on one of the "America's Cup" racing yachts. The skipper and crew are keen racing yachters and will ensure you get the most from your two hour sail, this is the idea activity to see Auckland "City of Sails". B
Day 3. Luxury Lodge. Transfer to Auckland Airport for your onward flight to Wellington (not included) where you will be met and transferred to Wharekauhau Luxury Lodge. Based on a 5000 acre working sheep station overlooking Palliser Bay. Guests can choose from a veritable smorgasbord of outdoor activities or simply indulge in splendid luxury, superb local wines and irresistible cuisine. Each perfect day ends in your own sumptuous cottage with built-in views of the magnificent ocean. Wharekauhau Luxury Lodge (2 nights) BD
Day 4. Wharekauhau Luxury Lodge. Today is free to relax in your luxurious cottage or choose from a variety of activities such as a four wheel drive safari, horse trekking, trap shooting on a private clay field. The renowned Martinborough wine growing region, is also an easy drive from Wharekauhau. Martinborough's wines are internationally acclaimed, particularly its Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Lodge offers gentle activities such as croquet, petanque and backgammon. Or you can work out in the fully equipped gymnasium, take in some laps of the heated indoor pool, or play a few sets on the astro-turf tennis court BD
Day 5. Wellington to Queenstown. Depart the lodge back to Wellington for your onward flight to Queenstown (not included). Transfer by private car to your lodge. Rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy this beautiful region. The guest suites at Punatapu Lodge surround a courtyard and are separate from the outdoor kitchen whareumu and the main lodge which houses the lounge, dining room, breakfast conservatory and library. Exclusively furnished with natural materials, fine textiles, artworks, and furniture handcrafted by New Zealanders, Punatapu has style, strength of character and a special relationship with the environment. Day 6. Nature experience. After a short drive with commentary on the region, you'll begin your walk in a lush, native New Zealand beech forest to the crystal clear waters of Lake Wakatipu, framed by evergreen trees and bush. The only sounds you'll hear will be the music of the native birds, and your guide will call them for you to see them up close.. A gentle walk to a rocky peninsula hilltop completes the half-day tour with glorious views in all directions, before returning to Queenstown. B
Day 7. Fly and See Milford Sound. Board your scenic flight across the alps to Milford Sound. Milford Sound has been called the 'Eighth Wonder of the World!' Only from above will you begin to appreciate the dramatic scenery and grandeur of this unique part of New Zealand. On landing at Milford you will board a modern fully equipped vessel and cruise through the sound. Before returning back to Queenstown by air. B.
Day 8. Queenstown at Leisure. The day is free to explore the alpine township of Queenstown, offering exquisite restaurants and cafes, exclusive shopping and countless touring options or simply relax and enjoy the outstanding views. B
Day 9. Depart Queenstown. Depart Queenstown today or extend your stay with one of the many luxurylodges available in New Zealand. B
