Cartagena de Indias is a fascinating and colorful port city resting on the Caribbean coast. Once plagued by pirates, a series of forts were built up around the city for protection. Its historic old centre is enclosed by city walls and contains beautiful colonial architecture, cobbled alleys, plazas and courtyards filled with flowers. Due to its atmosphere, beauty and history, the city has been named a UNESCO World Heritage site and is also the gateway to the coral archipelagos of Rosario and San Bernardo.
Hot, sultry, filled with the sounds of music and bright with color and tradition, Cartagena de Indias has been an important port on the Caribbean since it was founded in 1533. Gold and silver left the port bound for Europe, pirates looted the city, and a walled fort grew to protect both shipping and the slave trade.

Itinerary:
Day 1. Cartagena
On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Cartagena de Indias, is a city on the northern coast of Colombia and capital of Bolívar Department. The metropolitan area has a population of approximately 1.2 million, which makes it the fifth largest urban area in Colombia, a center of economic activity in the Caribbean region, as well a popular tourist destination for beach goers as well.
Day 2. Cartagena half day city tour
Today will begin with a panoramic view of the city from the monastery and church of La Popa. Built in 1606, it is perched on the areas only important elevation and was formerly called "La Popa del Galeón", for its incredible resemblance to the stern of a galleon. Visit to the fortress of San Felipe de Barajas, built on the San Lázaro hill in order to defend the city from pirate attacks. Later you will make a special visit to visit the convent of San Pedro Claver and the artisan center in Las Bóvedas. B
Day 3. Cartagena - onwards travel
After breakfast and the morning at your leisure, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Bogota, or elsewhere to one of Colombia's wonderful destinations. B
