Goway Travel – Best Tour Operator To The South Pacific

Goway Travel has been honored in the 15th Annual Readers Choice Awards as Best Tour Operator – South Pacific, for the 3rd consecutive year, voted by travel agent readers of Recommend Magazine.

As North America’s premier Downunder specialist, Goway adds this Readers Choice Award to a list of prestigious awards including two “Ozzie’ Awards, an Opal Award (voted by Aussie Specialists) as well as Silver and Gold Magellan Awards for marketing.

“We are delighted by the recognition from our trade partners,” commented Cathy Mulrine, VP Wholesale for Goway, “this is our 3rd RCA award and is a result of the knowledge and expertise of our reservations team and support divisions”.

Goway’s Bruce Hodge Honoured for Commitment to Australian Tourism

At the South Pacific’s largest trade event, the Australian Tourism Exchange, the Chairman of Tourism NSW, Leslie Cassar, gave a special tribute to Bruce Hodge, Founder and President of Goway, for his tireless promotion of Sydney and NSW as a tourist destination.

The event was held at Sydney’s waterfront overlooking the iconic Opera House, and was attended by all international buyers, as well as suppliers and tour operators from around the country. Mr Cassar recognised that Bruce has been promoting the State of New South Wales to international travellers in Canada and the United States for the past 40 years.

Mr Cassar acknowledged Bruce’s long-standing contribution to tourism and on behalf of Tourism NSW and its Board, presented him with the inaugural Chairman’s Award for Long Service to Tourism in NSW.

Bruce Hodge, originally from Nambucca Heads in regional NSW, moved to Sydney then re-located to Canada in 1970 and started up his own company which was the first to operate camping tours across Canada and the USA. His company began to sell Australia to North Americans in the early 1980s. Today Goway works with all major airlines and markets to both Canada and the USA, and is now the largest mover of people from North America to Australia.

Goway wins Ozzie Award!

At the recent Oztalk Event held in Palm Springs, California, Goway was honoured with an “Ozzie”; the award for “Best Wholesaler” which was voted on by attending Australian hoteliers, tour operators and state tourism organizations.

The award was presented to Goway at the gala dinner at the end of the weekend training event. Companies eligible for the award included all of the major wholesale companies (sending more than 1500 passengers annually to Australia) in the USA and Canada. “We are delighted by the recognition from our trade partners,” commented Emma Cottis, Product and Marketing Manager for Goway, “this is our first Ozzie award and is a result of the knowledge and expertise of our reservations team, and follows our win for ‘Best Wholesaler’ as voted by over 4,000 Aussie Specialists”.

Oztalk is an annual training event that consists of an in-depth weekend of Australian product training presentations, and was held August 24-26.

Goway a winner at New Zealand Tourism Awards

On Saturday April 28th, Tourism New Zealand hosted their annual Awards for excellence in promoting New Zealand in North America.

Goway was presented the award for Best New Zealand Marketing/Promotional Campaign for their “Globetrotting” Magazine. The magazine, with a distribution of over 370,000, directs consumers to call their local travel professional to make reservations.

“Our magazine selects unique experiences available in Africa, Asia, Downunder and Latin America,” commented Goway founder and President, Bruce Hodge, “it’s a great vehicle for agents to offer new and unusual travel ideas and destinations to their clients”.

There was a range of criteria for the awards, including promotion of new product, comprehensive range of product, ease of understanding, active promotion of New Zealand and the quality of communications. The objective of the judging process was to recognize successful organizations that sell New Zealand and also to lift the bar for the entire industry to further improve their efforts in the future.

The award is the second presented to Goway within the last 12 months for promoting travel to the South Pacific region. In September 2006, Goway was voted “Best Wholesale Partner” by over 4500 Aussie Specialists at the Tourism Australia Opal Awards held in Cairns, Australia.

Goway Thanks North American Agents

In recognition of the support of thousands of North American Agents, Goway is giving away tickets to Australia and New Zealand through to January 15, 2007.

Goway has been recognized as “Best Wholesale Partner” by over 4500 North American Aussie Specialists and in the USA’s 2005 Travel Weekly survey of travel agent subscribers, Goway scooped the awards in 4 out of 6 categories for the “tour operator they used most for the South Pacific”.

From October 30 to January 15, 2007, agents across North America can visit www.gowayagent.com and complete the online quiz (all answers are found on www.goway.com) for a chance to win a pair of round-trip tickets with Air New Zealand to Australia or New Zealand. For each booking made with Goway, agents receive an additional entry into the draw.

Eight grand prizes of two round-trip tickets to Australia or New Zealand will be awarded (one pair to one agent in each of the following regions: Maritimes/Newfoundland, Quebec, Southern Ontario, Eastern Ontario, Central/Northern Ontario, Manitoba/Saskatchewan, Alberta/North West Territories/Nunavut, British Columbia/Yukon).
