A cruise on the Yangtze is one of the great river journeys of the world. It is the longest river in Asia, and the 3rd longest in the world. All cruises sail through the ship locks adjacent to China's new engineering marvel - the Three Gorges Dam, where sightseeing tours are held.

Day 1. Arrive Chongqing and board the ship. Sail from picturesque Chongqing, the "Mountain City" at 9 pm.

Day 2. Fengdu. Today visit Fengdu, the Ghost City, known for its gardens, temples and statues of ghosts and devils. Relax on deck and observe both Chinese farm and village life.

Day 3. The Three Gorges/Daning River. Enter the Three Gorges, one of nature's most extraordinary sculptures. Today you will pass through the first two - Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge. Qutang Gorge is the shortest (5 Miles), narrowest (500 feet), and most dramatic. The 25-mile long Wu Gorge is known for its quiet beauty, forest-covered mountains, and the cliffs so sheer that the sun barely penetrates the precipices. Take an excursion through the Daning River*Small Gorges, which are narrower then the Three Gorges, but very impressive. Enter Xiling Gorge, the longest (41 miles), and the deepest of the Three Gorges. In the evening, sail through the Three Gorges Dam ship locks.

Day 4. Three Gorges Dam / Yichang. Morning visit to the Three Gorges Dam site at Sandouping, the largest project of its kind in the world. Arrive Yichang at 1:30pm, and disembark after lunch.

UPRIVER Yichang to Chongqing

Day 1. Arrive Yichang, the economic and cultural centre of western Hubei Province. Board the ship and sail at 9 pm for the start of your cruise up the Yangtze River.

Day 2. Three Gorges Dam Site/Xiling Gorge. Morning visit to the Three Gorges Dam site at Sandouping, the world's largest hydroelectric project. Pass Gezhou Dam, enter Yichang Ship Locks and view Xiling Gorge, the longest and deepest of the gorges.

Day 3. Daning River "Small Gorges"/Wu Gorge/Quatang Gorge. A breathtaking day takes you to the Daning River*Small Gorges to view one of the most spectacular sights in China is the Wu Gorge with its "Twelve Peaks". Then, enter Qutang Gorge, known for its magnificent scenery. And the most dramatic of the three.

Day 4. Fengdu. This morning visit Fengdu, the "Ghost City". Later, relax on deck and observe both Chinese farm and village life.

Day 5. Disembark in Chongqing. You will disembark your Victoria Cruise ship at 9:00 am.
