Experience a taste of a faraway land on this journey to Brunei. Wedged between two Malaysian states on the north coast of Borneo, Brunei is an oil-rich nation that has been ruled by a Sultanate for the past 600 years. It’s also home to some of the most opulent treasures of Islamic culture in the entire world. After landing in the capital of Bandar Seri Bagawan, you’ll spend a couple nights exploring the capital. A half day tour will showcase the city’s splendour. Start at the Royal Palace, Istana Nurul Iman, known as the Palace of Light, which is one of the world’s largest palaces with 1,788 rooms. Next up is James Asr’ Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, an opulent mosque with 29 golden-topped domes. The Royal Regalia Museum will get you up to speed on the country’s history and some of the Sultan’s personal treasures of Islamic art. Close out your tour with a river cruise to a water village, where you’ll enjoy some traditional cakes in a local home. The rest of your time is at leisure to explore Bandar and perhaps head into the surrounding forest in search of a proboscis monkey.
At the end of your stay, head back to the airport to continue your Southeast Asian journey.

Bandar Seri Begawan
After breakfast, enjoy a half day Bandar Splendour tour. You will begin by viewing what some consider the world's largest palace by room capacity, Istana Nurul Iman. Next visit the Jame Asr' Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, one of Brunei's most majestic mosques. Continue on to the Brunei museum, and have a look into the Sultan's personal Islamic Art Collection and the history of Brunei. Then visit the Royal Regalia Museum, circled around our Current Sultan. You will finish the day with a boat cruise along the river, passing the oldest form of residence in Brunei - the Water village - fondly known as the "Venice of the East." Disembark at one of jetties and enjoy tea served and traditional Brunei Cakes at a local's home. Return back to you hotel.
