Perth to Broome Self Drive

Duration
16 Days
Prices From:
US$ 1,553

FIRST-CLASS | SELF-DRIVE: On this exploration of Western Australia, begin in Perth and end in Broome, travelling at your own pace to take in spectacular highlights that are often missed on trips to Australia including Cervantes, Kalbarri, Monkey Mia, Coral Bay and Karijini along the way.

Driving the vast length of Western Australia’s coast might seem daunting – until you discover the treasure trove of sights that make a visit to this remote state so rewarding. Your 16 day journey begins in Perth, an increasingly cosmopolitan city that still retains perhaps the most laid back lifestyle of all the Australian capitals. Browse the eclectic shopping strip of Northbridge, or explore picturesque Kings Park.

Enjoy the pristine beaches of Cervantes before going on to Kalbarri, home to one of Western Australia’s most spectacular national parks. The Murchison River flows through this region and has created spectacular sights such including Murchison River Gorge and the famous Z Bend. You may also enjoy a visit to The Rainbow Jungle parrot breeding centre, home to hundreds of species of exotic birds.

Marine life lovers are in for a treat at Monkey Mia, where bottlenose dolphins have been coming inshore for feeding since the 1960s. A little further north, Carnarvon is an historic mining town that, until the mid 70s, was also home to a NASA tracking station.

At 260km in length, Ningaloo Reef is the largest fringing coral reef in Australia. Spend two nights at the resort town of Coral Bay to explore this unique region. You’ll have the chance to dive or snorkel on the reef with majestic Manta Rays, and in the right season, even enormous, but gentle Whale Sharks.

Situated on the Hammersley Range, Karijini National Park is a rarely explored gem for nature lovers. The Park is home to 5 spectacular gorges and a living gallery of wildlife including red kangaroos, goannas, echidnas and pythons. Make a stop in Port Hedland before your adventure ends in Broome, historic centre of Western Australia’s pearling industry. Perhaps visit the Japanese Cemetery, the last resting place for 919 of the Japanese divers who were critical to Broome’s pearl industry. Or extend your stay to explore some of the nearby Kimberley.
