Zimbabwe is a landlocked country located in the heart of Southern Africa. 12% of the country is devoted to either National Parks or Game Reserves. The capital of Zimbabwe is Harare, not perhaps a big tourist attraction, but an attractive orderly modern metropolis on a Zimbabwe tour.

Definitely, the most renowned attraction in the country is the magnificent Victoria Falls, the world’s largest curtain of falling water and known by locals on travel to Zimbabwe as Mosi-oa-Tunya, the “Smoke That Thunders”. It is twice as large as Niagara Falls and several times longer. The falls can be visited close up but be prepared to get a little wet.

While in Victoria Falls, take a delightful cruise on the Zambezi River to have an alternative view of the falls, especially at sunset. You can also take a helicopter ride over the falls. For something different, why not have afternoon tea at the traditional Victoria Falls Hotel. For shopping, Victoria Falls is an excellent place to purchase local curios, artwork and carvings.

Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s best-known animal-viewing kingdom on travel to Zimbabwe. A conservation area, it hosts 100 different animal species and over 400 species of birds. It also contains more than 30,000 elephants. A typical sight would be the antelopes, zebras and giraffes that roam the plains.

Lake Kariba is Zimbabwe’s largest damming project and the world’s largest man-made lake and the source of most of the country’s hydroelectric power. It is also an excellent place to view African wildlife.

Matobo Hills is steeped in tribal history and is also an exquisite beauty spot with its dramatic rocky landscape. A visit to the Great Zimbabwe Ruins will reveal the story of the Shona Civilization from the 11th to the 15th Centuries which are the oldest and largest ancient structures in Southern Africa. The Eastern High is a scenic mountainous area known as “The Little England” where you can enjoy horse riding, golf and fishing on travel to Zimbabwe.

It's almost impossible to not include a visit to Victoria Falls while in Zimbabwe. Book one of our Zimbabwe tours and you will see why we include it in all of our tours. It's spectacular!
