Suzhou Tours and Vacation Packages

  • Travelling by boat on the canals of Suzhou is a popular inclusion for China tours.
  • The lake and pavilion
  • Illuminated Pagoda and canal
  • Buddha statues in Chinese temple
  • On the canal

Located approximately one hour away from Shanghai on China tours, Suzhou is a cultural and historic city filled with stark contrast. While Suzhou’s beauty is derived from various ancient, ornamental gardens as well as the nearby Grand Canal, it has recently earned recognition for having one of the hottest economies in the world today!

Although it has managed to preserve its cultural heritage quite well, Suzhou is not only a centre for silk trade but has now grown into a large centre for producing high-tech equipment for international companies, and currently boasts being the world’s largest laptop producer.

Suzhou’s elegant gardens can be traced back as far as the Spring and Autumn period (770 BC – 476 BC), but it was during the Ming Dynasty that they really flourished. The four most famous gardens in Suzhou are The Lingering Garden, The Humble Administrator’s Garden, Master-of-Nets Garden, and The Lion Grove Garden, all to be enjoyed on tours to China.

Just 30km southeast of Suzhou is Zhouzhuang, which is known as the ‘Number One Water Town’ and also ‘the Venice of the East. A Grand Canal tour of this popular destination and painter’s paradise provides picturesque views of charming bridges, still waters, quaint alleys, and historic houses... all with the embellishment of vibrant, red-hanging lanterns.

Suzhou's Major Tourism Spots

Suzhou is one of China's oldest cities and also one of its most beautiful on China tours. It is a city crisscrossed with a network of canals and subsequently known as the "Venice of the East" with its own Grand Canal. Suzhou also has the most beautiful ornamental gardens in China that combine pavillions, temples and rock sculptures with distinctive arrangements of trees and flowers. The silk Industry is centred in Suzhou and a visit to a silk factory is a rewarding experience.
