The city of Cebu is situated on Cebu Island, part of the Visayas archipelago. Cebu Island, in the province of Cebu, stretches 225 km north to south and is surrounded by 167 smaller, neighbouring islands. Cebu Island features narrow coastlines, limestone plateaus, coastal plains, rolling hills, and rugged mountain ranges, with peaks reaching 1000m. A wonderful place to enjoy the Philippines vacation.

The capital city of Cebu Province is Cebu City. Known as the ‘Queen City of the South, the city of Cebu is the oldest in the Philippines. Cebu City is the commercial, economic, educational, and industrial hub in the Visayas. With its rapid growth, the city of Cebu has become a global hub for furniture making, tourism, business processing services, and heavy industry.

Amidst all its commercial activity, Cebu features numerous white sand beaches, historical sites, various museums, and churches. With Cebu Island achieving independence from colonial rule in 1946, historic monuments of its old colonial past include Magellan’s Cross, Fort San Pedro, and Basilica Minore del Santo Nino.

A day trip can be taken to the neighbouring province of Bohol, featuring Chocolate Hills, a major tourist attraction on Philippines vacation packages. Consisting of approximately 1500 grass-covered limestone hills, spread over an area of more than 50 square km (20 sq mi), these cone-shaped karst formations turn brown in the dry season, hence their name.

With its natural surroundings, historic, religious, and cultural sites, and relaxing beach resorts, the city and island of Cebu have something wonderful to offer every tourist.
