Dunedin is New Zealand’s fifth largest city and the second largest on the South Island. It is known as a student city due to its many educational facilities including the University of Otago. It is also a city with a slower pace of life. Not far from the centre are a number of excellent beaches along the spectacular and varied coastline, some suitable for surfing and others for safe swimming. Out of town on the Otago Peninsula one can view some of the world’s rarest wildlife including the yellow-eyed penguin.
