Car rental terms and conditions:
- Valid Passport
- Valid driver's license. A foreign driver's license is valid in Costa Rica for 90 days after the last arrival date into the country
- The minimum age for rental is 23 years old
- Guarantee deposit of $1000 with a credit card. No debit cards or cash are accepted
- Major credit cards (Amex, Visa, Master Card) with credit enough to cover the deductible (excess) of the chosen insurance, plus the value of the rental.
RENTAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
- The rental period is 24 hours
- 4 hours after the due return time clients will be charged the daily rate
- Cars cannot be taken out of Costa Rica
INSURANCE
- The rate includes basic liability insurance with maximum protection of US$20.000 for damages to third parties' property, and US$100.000 per accident, for injury or death of third persons not travelling in the rental car.
- LDW (Loss damage waiver): By Costa Rican law the LDW coverage is mandatory and will be added to your rental agreement. It also protects the financial losses in case of a total or partial theft of the automobile. The LDW has a deductible (excess) of US$1000. The LDW is not insurance.
- Supplemental Protection Plan: The SPP allows the renter to waive the deductible (excess) of the LDW for a daily extra cost. It also covers cases of vandalism, destroyed tires or broken crystals, as well as free 24 hours specialized road assistance, including towing in case of an accident (restrictions apply). In the liability area, it extends the limit of the coverage up to US$2.200.000 per event, and it covers moral damages and profit loss.
NOTE: In Costa Rica, there are very few road and streets name signs. It is highly recommended a GPS be used.
