Whether a rustic rural, old country estate, traditional villa or castle hotel, accommodation is carefully selected to always reflect the character and charm of the destination you are staying in. Some properties are situated in a stunning setting or have an interesting historical and architectural heritage; whilst others may be chosen for their owner-hosted welcome or excellent food. Character is not a substitute for quality and comfort however and at all of our hotels, you're guaranteed an en-suite, a great night's sleep and delicious food. There is a choice of twin, double or single rooms and while room sizes in older buildings may vary, each room will have its own unique style and character. Hotel Diderot
The Hotel Diderot, the long-time friend of Back-Roads, is a delightful small hotel in the attractive town of Chinon, famous for its landmark chateau and surrounded by some of the best vineyards in the Loire. The hotel is a charming old building, family-owned and run, and they are very proud of their homemade jams and preserves which are served at breakfast.

Le Donjon
Located in the heart of the medieval city of Carcassonne, the 4-star Hotel Le Donjon is surrounded by the city’s ancient ramparts. It is only 100 metres from the castle and a 2-minute walk from Saint-Nazaire. The hotel’s 61 rooms are divided across three buildings, which either overlook the citadel or the hotel’s garden. This former wine merchant's house, restored in the Burgundian style, is located within 3 minute's walk of the town centre of Beaune.

Grand Hotel des Terreaux
Remarkably well situated in the city centre, the Grand Hotel des Terreaux is one of the oldest hotels in Lyon. It is situated in the heart of Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, near the Opera, the theatre of the Célestins and the Fine Arts museum.
Hotel Villa Rivoli
This hotel was built around 1890 by the architect Monsieur Blanchi, born in Nice. He is renowned for his constructions of the Belle Epoque. All the 26 rooms are decorated individually "à la française", they are light and some have a small balcony. The beaches and the Promenade des Anglais are only 100 meters away from the hotel.
