Fiordland Navigator Cruise Schedule

  • Fiordland Navigator Cruise
  • Enjoy your trip on Fiordland Navigator Cruise

The Fiordland Navigator offers a very special overnight cruise in New Zealand’s most remote and beautiful wilderness areas. From Manapouri cruise across the crystal waters of Lake Manapouri to West Arm before boarding a coach and crossing the alpine route of the Wilmot Pass through some of Fiordland’s most dense rainforest. Purpose-built for cruising Doubtful Sound and designed along the lines of a traditional trading scow, the Fiordland Navigator combines the character of a bygone era with all the modern comforts to accommodate guests either in private cabins with ensuite bathrooms or quad-share bunk-style compartments with shared bathroom facilities.

Cruise the fiord, weaving through hidden coves and mystical waterways. During the cruise, our knowledgeable and friendly Nature Guides will share with guests their passion for the region. This fiord is home to Bottlenose dolphins and fur seals – both of which are often seen. In season a glimpse may be seen of the rare Fiordland Crested and Little Blue penguins. As evening draws near, we’ll drop anchor at a sheltered mooring. Take the opportunity to explore the shoreline by kayak or small boat. For the more adventurous, there’s even the chance to go swimming. In the evening, relax in the saloon and enjoy a delicious three-course meal prepared by the chef. Local wines, beer and spirits can be purchased from the bar.

The next morning, following the cooked and continental breakfast buffet, there is time for further cruising before returning to Deep Cove and retracing the steps back to Manapouri, (the Manapouri Underground Power Station is not included). On the return cruise, the vessel’s engines are turned off and passengers are treated to the ‘sound of silence where guests experience floating in silence on the fiord, only the rush of waterfalls and birdsong breaks the silence.

Suitable for most ages though not recommended for infants or babies. Not suitable for wheelchair passengers due to the steep stairs.
