ABOUT THE CLUB

The 102room Sebel boutique hotel, operated by Mirvac Hotels and Resorts, forms an integral part of the prestigious Heritage Golf and Country Club the only private Jack Nicklaus Signature Course in Australia. Superbly located overlooking one of the country's foremost wine regions, the hotel enjoys the idyllic position of having over 40 top wineries right on its doorstep. These include Domaine Chandon, Tarrawarra, DeBortoli, Coldstream Hills and Yering Station.

Naturally, the hotel prides itself on offering personal service in a relaxed atmosphere, with all the facilities expected from a Sebel hotel. It is an ideal venue for conferences with its highly flexible Conference Centre accommodating up to 400 guests. All types of meeting setups are catered for, with extensive breakout and pre-function areas with natural light and outdoor terraced patios an important feature.

The Heritage Retreat and Day Spa is a popular spot with golfers and hotel guests, offering a full range of pampering and beauty treatments. The Retreat also features a host of sporting and social activities. The glass-walled indoor heated swimming pool makes lap swimming a treat with its stunning Valley views; and there is a state of heart gymnasium, floodlit tennis courts, steam room and sauna.

In between the day's activities, be it golfing, touring the wineries or enjoying one of the many attractions in the Yarra Valley region, the Lodge's signature restaurant, Bella, or The Retreat's Café Vitality are ideal places to unwind.

DESIGN FEATURES - ST JOHN COURSE

The immense golfing experience of perhaps the world's most influential player, Jack Nicklaus, is reflected in the design of the 18 holes St John Golf Course.

It is the only private Jack Nicklaus Signature Course in Australia and takes full advantage of the Yarra Valley's natural contours, dazzling water features and strategically placed slopes and mounds.

The course's sculptured fairways form a stunning vista at The Heritage's entrance and extend 6670 metres to the banks of the Yarra River. Boasting impeccable greens flanked by artfully conceived bunkers that complement the lively and unpredictable contours of its generous fairways, St John provides an exhilarating day of golf for all skill levels.

DESIGN FEATURES - HENLEY COURSE

Stroll over the bridge, across the Yarra River, and you'll discover The Henley a traditional links course designed by Tony Cashmore in consultation with Nicklaus Design. The Henley is equal in every way, although stark in contrast and character to St John, giving golfers a real choice when they come to play at the Heritage.

Weaving through oxbow meanders carved by the river, The Henley rises alongside the Warrandyte State Forest to the knoll from which the Homestead surveys the Heritage's spectacular landscape. Some 6353 metres in length, this par 72 layout also boasts the longest par 4 holes in Australia - the 16th. A true test of golfing character and skill, The Henley is tranquil, rich in wildlife and bordered by tapestry roughs as picturesque as its flawless fairways.

COURSE HIGHLIGHT

11th St John Course, PAR 3, 148 Metres

With the green sitting at the base of an old quarry and with water protecting the entire right side of the hole, an accurate mid-iron is required on this beautiful par 3. With the green measuring almost 40 meters in length, club selection is critical.

13th Henley Course, PAR 5, 498 Metres

A great par 5 that runs up through the Valley. Position your drive as close to the left bunkers as to leave a long second towards the green. Avoid the large tree on the left which leaves you a simple pitch into a huge green. Watch for the pin placement as it can play longer when at the back of the green.
