Yueyang International Dragon Boat Festival

South Lake, Yueyang
This is an ANNUAL event.

Every year, on the fifth Day of the fifth lunar month, Yueyang commemorates Qu Yuan, a great poet of ancient times, by staging a Dragon Boat Festival. Over 20 teams from the United States, Canada, Australia and countries throughout South East Asia and other parts of the world participate. Besides the races there's the chance to sample zongzi (a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves), drink local wines, enjoy folk performances and hang up Artemisia Argyi (mugwort leaf).

Olympic Games

The first modern games were held in Olympia in 1896, and are normally held every 4 years. The host city welcome athletes from more than 200 nations to participate in a variety of sports.

For the spectators, not only does it offer the opportunity to watch top class competition as the athletes go for gold, but also the wonder of the opening and closing ceremonies and the joy and spirit of the Olympics of just being there and competing.

World Masters Games

The Monaco Grand Prix

The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the world's greatest and most challenging motor-racing events; the Monaco Grand Prix is at present, the last 'street course' remaining in the Formula One calendar. The Monaco Grand Prix is staged around the narrow, winding streets of Monte Carlo. The main attraction of the Monaco Grand Prix is the proximity of the speeding Formula One cars to the race spectators.

The twisting 77-lap circuit offers incalculable opportunities for spectators to witness the thrill of screaming engines, smoking tires and the genius of the drivers over the 263-kilometer race on a course that allows no margin for error.

Every Italian soccer team plays the game with much zeal and determination. One thing so noticeable about the Italian players is the fact that they have the ability to inject passion to each game they play. It has been said that Italian soccer is the most passionate league being played in the world. Serie A (officially known as the Lega Calcio Serie A TIM Telecom Italia Mobile for sponsorship reasons) is a professional league competition for football clubs located at the top echelon of the Italian football league system. It is widely regarded as one of the elite leagues of the footballing world.

Wimbledon

Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world, dating back to 1877. Held on the grass courts of the historic All England Club, Wimbledon is considered the most prestigious of the Grand Slam Events by many. The Event offers you the chance to see some great tennis and experience some of the traditions that are associated with it – for example…strawberries and cream!

Rugby World Cup

Rugby World Cup not only celebrates the spirit of Rugby but also the diversity of cultures it brings together from all over the world. 

In 2023, there are two milestones that will be celebrated, the 10th time the RWC has been held, and  it the 200th anniversary of the “invention” of the sport. The RWC heads back to Europe, and France a previous winner in 2007.  

RWC 2023 will see Rugby played on a number of globally recognised venues in Marseille, Lyon, Nice, Bordeaux, Nantes, Toulouse, Lille-Villeneauve d’Asq, Saint Etienne, with the final scheduled for Paris and the iconic Stade de France.

The Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix

This is an ANNUAL event.

Phillip Island is Australia's home of motorcycle racing and host to perhaps the best round of the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix (or MotoGP) each year. Located 120km southeast of Melbourne, it's been the picturesque setting of some of the hardest fought, most razor close battles seen in recent years. The biggest stars in the galaxy of MotoGP champions dazzle at Phillip Island. Catch a glimpse of local heroes Casey Stoner, Ant West and wet-track specialist Chris Vermeulen, as well as the international heroes chasing the title.

Australian Tennis Open

The Australian Open is a major tennis tournament held annually at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The tournament is the first of the four Grand Slam tournaments. The other Grand Slams are the French Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open Tennis. Until 1968, the Australian Open was called the Australian Championships, and was an amateur event until the era of “open” tournaments began that year. The tournament was first played in 1905 as the Australian Championships, then as the Australian Championships in 1927, becoming the Australian Open in 1968.  If you love tennis then there is no place like Australia in January to watch the best players in the world vie for the coveted championship trophy.

Melbourne Cup

This is an ANNUAL event on the first Tuesday of November


It is no exaggeration to say that the Melbourne Cup is the 'race that stops the nation'. On the first Tuesday of November each year, Australians tune in by radio and television or in person to Flemington Racecourse for the running of the 3,200 metre race which is televised to over 350 million people.

IBCPC Participatory Dragon Boat Festival

Lake Karapiro, New Zealand
March 28 – April 03, 2022

Held every 3-4 years, this is the first time the event will take place in New Zealand. The festival will involve a selection of participants from the 240 IBCPC member teams, from 30 countries. 

This is not just a sporting event, it is more importantly a social event for those paddlers and their families who use paddling as a rehabilitation therapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer. The celebration includes events, activity, demonstrations, workshops and the chance to make new friends from around the world.
