Portugal is one of the oldest countries in all Europe, where outstanding monuments, Castles and churches meet the futuristic new buildings and technologies embraced by this vibrant country. With traditions and architecture stretching back over the centuries, some say this is one of the most ancient countries in Europe; great! This is the magic of Portugal and along with its climate; it makes this a favorite destination for the discerning tourist.

Day 1

Depart home

Day 2

Arrival in Lisbon

On arrival in Lisbon we will be met by a local representative of Goway Travel and transferred to our accommodation on The Estoril Coast, a short 30km drive west.

The balance of the day is at leisure.

This evening we get together for a welcome dinner at our resort.

The Estoril Coast, stretching west from Lisbon, boasts a rich historical past, a sunny climate, a wide range of Blue Flag beaches, and a beautiful countryside with verdant hills dropping down to the sea.

Once known as the Sun Coast, the region has long been popular with expats and is dotted with beach resorts like Cascais and Estoril, while up in the hills the historical retreats of Sintra and Mafra are also well worth visiting for their rich heritage. Sintra was one of the favorite summer retreats of the royal family. Between the Sintra hills and the Atlantic Ocean is the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, classified as a World Heritage Site for both its natural beauty and cultural interest. On the coast, a lighthouse and various other tourist facilities mark the westernmost point of continental Europe at Cabo da Roca. Estoril was once a spa location favored by royal exiles from Europe during the World Wars and today is the flagship of Portuguese tourism.

Day 3

Golf / Sightseeing

This morning after breakfast we enjoy our first round of golf at our resort.

The golf course at Quinta da Marinha has 18 holes with 5.870 meters of unadulterated nature surroundings and major challenges. Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Senior, this par 71 has great views to Atlantic Ocean and Sintra Mountains. (BD)

Day 4

Golf - Penha Longa-Atlantico

This morning after breakfast we have a short transfer by coach to The Penha Longa Atlantico Golf Course.

The setting of the course can be considered as unique in comparison with most other courses in Portugal. Located in the parklands of what was originally a very wealthy 14th Century Monastery that has been very carefully restored.

The topographical layout of the 18 holes is over gently wooded hills which add to its overall beauty.

After our round of golf we will be transferred back to our hotel, balance of the day at leisure. (BD)

Day 5

Full Day Sightseeing: Queluz, Sintra, Cascais, Estoril

After breakfast we are picked up by our Tour Escort for our tour. We visit the magnificent Queluz Palace, with its beautiful rococo decoration and its lovely gardens.

We will then continue towards the luxuriant Sintra, hidden behind a chain of hills. This is one of the most beautiful little towns in Portugal and has inspired many great writer and poets alike. Sintra was also one of the favourite residences of the Portuguese Kings, and prior to that time it was a Moorish stronghold as witnessed by the ruins of the Moorish Castle on the hilltop.

After our lunch stop (included) we cross through the hills’ chain of Sintra and journey to the most western point of the European continent – Roca Cape. Luis de Camoes, the most famous Portuguese poet, described it as the place “where the land ends and the sea begins”.

Before returning back to our resort, we pass by the beautiful Guincho beach, the picturesque cliff Boca do Inferno, the colourful bay of Cascais, and the cosmopolitan Estoril. (BLD)

Day 6

Golf at Oitavos

After breakfast we are taken to Oitavos Dunes Golf course.
Oitavos Golf, set in Quinta da Marinha, lies within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. It is set among pine woods and reforested dunes, in an area of great natural beauty. Being a seaside golf course, the ocean view is present all the time, although some of the more fantastic scenery comes from the Sintra Mountains and Cabo da Roca the Europe's most western point in Europe, seen from the 9, 10, 11 and 14 holes. Balance of the day at leisure. (BD)

Day 7

Full Day at Lesiure

Today is at your leisure to do as much or as little as you want. Option to play another round of golf at Quinta da Marinha (additional cost). (BD)

Day 8

Estoril Coast to the Algarve

After checking out of our hotel we board our coach and travel east to Lisbon. Prior to continuing our journey to The Algarve, we are taken on a city tour of Lisbon which includes a lunch stop before heading south to The Algarve.

Accommodation: Hilton Vilamoura 5 nights (BLD)

Day 9

Golf – Oceanico Laguna Course

This morning after breakfast we are escorted to the Laguna Course.

Located in Vilamoura the course is a very comfortable course for the average player providing 18 holes that take the player over virtually level ground and with the involvement of a lake and some water hazards. As there are very few trees and shrubs the main problem for the player can be the occasional strong wind that can play the ball off course. It is a course that can be likened to some degree to the challenges that are provided by a Links course. However, there are a many water hazards with strategically placed bunkers in open terrain. These factors combined with the occasional strong wind make for an interesting round.

After our round of golf, the balance of the day is at leisure. (BD)

Day 10

Sightseeing - Historical Algarve

After breakfast we are picked up by our local guide and taken to the wall surrounded town of Silves, the old capital of the Algarve. In the mountains of Monchique, we visit to Foia and a stop to taste the local liqueur. After our lunch stop, we continue to Sagres where tradition says that Portuguese sailors set sail for the New World. Stop at Ponta de Piedade to visit the Algarve’s most well known caves and then on to Lagos, one of the most beautiful towns in the Algarve. Late afternoon/early evening we return to our hotel. (BLD)

Day 11

Golf – Oceanico Millenium Course

This morning after breakfast we are escorted to the Millennium Course.

The original course architect Martin Hawtree has extended his original plan of the original 27 holes of the old Laguna Course by adding a further 9. With this addition, he has successfully created two distinctly different 18 hole courses. All the new additional holes are to be found on the Millennium Course, and wander amongst a forest of pine trees common to many parts of the Algarve. This course has some subtle and interesting variations to confront even the experienced golfer. (BD)

Day 12

Depart Faro

This morning is at leisure until our early afternoon transfer to the airport for our
Flight home. (B)
