JANETTE PURDHAM

AUSTRALIA & SOUTH PACIFIC

DESTINATION SPECIALIST

I have travelled to over 65 countries and been to every continent. I have travelled independently, with friends, and as part of a group. Travel is amazing and I have met some wonderful people over the years, seen some amazing places, and eaten a lot of fantastic food. Outside of travelling I compete in triathlon and running events. In 2015, I completed my first Ironman competition in the stunning location of Whistler, BC. I have run many road races from one-mile to the marathon to 50 kilometre trail races. Running is a great way to see more of a new area when you are travelling. I pretty much always travel with only hand luggage, even for a three week trip (unless it's somewhere really cold).

My favourite places

  • Antarctica

    Central & South America

Just an incredible location. Awe-inspiring beauty and complete silence and stillness all around. I particularly loved the huge range of icebergs—some of them the size of small islands. Their colours were incredible. There's spectacular wildlife too and so many penguins.

  • Westen Australia

    Australia & South Pacific

A vast area with some of the best beaches in Australia, the wonderful wine region of Margaret River, and the beautiful city of Perth. Rottnest island is one of my favourite spots and you should certainly check out the Pinnacles Desert, Wave Rock, and Monkey Mia to see the dolphins.

  • Nepal

    Asia

Trekked here many years ago at Annapurna and just had an amazing time. The scenery is magnificent and the people were wonderful. It's another amazing part of the world.

  • Zanzibar

    Africa & Middle East

I loved the history of Stone Town and the Island Spice Tour was fantastic. Zanzibar has beautiful beaches, history, culture, and food.

Did you know?

  • Australia is almost the same size as the USA.
  • Over 150 real New Zealand locations were used in the filming of The Lord of the Rings.
  • Ask a local for recommendations on the best things to see or places to eat.
  • I always travel with a guide book and learn to say at least "hello" and "thank you" in the local language.
