DESTINATION SPECIALIST

On the first trip I can remember, I was 13, on a flight from Toronto to Halifax. That excitement of flying has never left me. I still get excited every time I head to the airport. As the saying goes, "join the Navy and see the world." The Navy gave me the opportunity to visit many beautiful countries over my career. From multiple islands of the Caribbean to amazing places across the Atlantic including Iceland, Scotland, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and The Netherlands to name a few. There is something about arriving by sea that brings you back to how travel was done long before planes were even invented. I guess that is why river cruising ranks high on my list. I truly enjoy getting out and mixing with the locals. Getting to experience local traditions and cuisine is always the best way to go.

My favourite places

  • Dublin, Ireland

This was my first port visit with the Navy and fell in love with this city. So much history and culture, plus a great pub and food culture with so many great choices. Of course, no trip to Dublin is complete without a visit to the historic Guinness Brewery or The Jameson Distillery.

  • The Netherlands

This small country is filled with so much history and culture. From tulip fields in the spring to amazing foodie options, museums, canals, windmills, and thousands of bicycles, The Netherlands doesn’t disappoint as a great launching city for your European vacation.

  • Scotland

From the big cities to the awe-inspiring countryside, this is a must-see place for everyone. The history, culture, and food experiences are just endless. Take a trip to the Highlands for some of the most amazing vistas and visit Loch Ness. Maybe you will even catch a glimpse of Nessie!
