AMBER CAMMISH

AFRICA & MIDDLE EAST

DESTINATION SPECIALIST

I left Canada to backpack for six months and came back eight years later. I immediately fell in love with the Middle East and it was a privilege to call it my home. For five years I was a tour guide in the Middle East and North Africa, and immersed myself in the culture, cuisine, and extraordinarily-diverse history of this region. Living here also gave me free time to travel around other areas of Africa when I was not working. I love sharing my experience and enthusiasm for this region with new travellers, ensuring that they have their dream holiday, and hopefully plan a return visit to the African continent.

My favourite places

  • Maasai Mara

    Africa & Middle East

The vast plains are home to the "Greatest Show on Earth": the Great Migration and Mara River crossing. The abundance of wildlife guarantees you'll spot the Big Five.

  • Aswan

    Africa & Middle East

Where the Sahara Desert meets the Nile, this picturesque city is a great place to relax before or after a Nile river cruise. Stay at the Old Cateract Hotel where Agatha Christie wrote Death on the Nile.

  • Fez

    Africa & Middle East

Take a step back in time to the 9th century and walk through small streets of vendors and artisans who have called this maze of 9,500 streets home for centuries. Stay in a local riad for an experience of Moroccan hospitality.

  • Zambezi River

    Africa & Middle East

Stay away from the crowds and connect with nature. Staying along the river allows you to take canoe safaris and easily head on bush walks.

Did you know?

  • Head on a safari that isn't just by 4x4. Travel along the vital rivers of Africa and experience various forms of safaris, from bush walks to canoe trips.
  • Visit Egypt. There are no line-ups at the tourist sites and the value is exceptional. Extend your trip to the Red Sea for world-class diving and snorkeling.
  • Travelling to Africa slightly outside of peak season provides huge discounts, quieter safari experiences, and even-more stunning topography during the greenest times of the year.
