How welcoming is Namibia to LGBTQ travellers ?

Namibia is more forward-thinking on LGBT rights than many African nations. Homosexual acts are technically illegal but are not prosecuted, and legislation to repeal these laws has been proposed. The right to change legal gender has been protected since 1963. With that said, conservative attitudes still exist. All visitors are asked to maintain an understanding of local cultural sensitivities. Discretion is to be practised at sites of antiquity, as well as during day-to-day touring. With this in mind, Namibia welcomes all to its uniquely beautiful landscapes.

What if any vaccinations are required or suggested for travel to Namibia?

There are no compulsory vaccinations required for Namibia, however, we recommend you consult with your local travel clinic for the most up-to-date recommendations, particularly in regard to malaria prophylactics. Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required if you are coming from or have transited through an airport of a country where yellow fever occurs.
