Mongolia - Weather
Mongolia is known as the “Land of the Blue Sky” and experiences more than 260 sunny days a year. Mongolia has four distinct seasons: winter from November to February, spring from March to mid-May, summer from mid-May to late August and autumn from September to October.
Winter in Mongolia experiences subzero temperatures with the average daily temperature at -13˚C. However, temperatures have been known to drop below -40˚C making Ulaanbaatar the coldest capital city in the world.
Spring is characterised by wind, but has an average daily temperature of 12˚C (53˚F).
Summer can be quite rainy with July and August averaging more than 2 inches of rain a month each. The average daily temperature is 21˚C (69.8˚F).
Autumn sees the colours changing in Mongolia and can also see the first snow falls. The weather and temperatures vary significantly during this part of the year.
