Belize offers a subtropical climate with high annual temperatures and humidity. These hot temperatures are generally felt day and night and do not vary greatly between seasons. The hottest time of year is from May to September and the cooler part of the year is from December to May (however, temperatures only drop around 4°C at this time of year). The wet season in the north is from mid-June to November and in the south it is from mid-May to November. If visiting the uplands of Belize, including Mountain Pine Ridge and the Maya Mountains range, temperatures tend to fall by about 3°C for every 304.8m (1,000 ft) rise in altitude.
