Guyana - Weather

Due to its location near the equator, Guyana enjoys a tropical climate and temperatures do not vary much throughout the year.  The country experiences two wet seasons, the first from December to January, and the second from May to June.  It is during this second wet season that approximately 50% of the country’s annual rainfall occurs.  This time of year is characterised by heavier afternoon showers or thunderstorms.

Typically July is the hottest month of the year with average highs of 32˚C (89.6˚F) and average lows of 24˚C (72.5˚F).  Sea breezes in the afternoon often bring a welcome break from the heat.  February is Guyana’s coldest month with temperatures ranging from 23-29˚C (73.4-84.2˚F).
