Austria enjoys a moderate, continental climate with four distinct seasons. Spring runs from March to May with temperatures averaging 14˚C (58˚F). Summer is from June to August with average highs of 24˚C (75˚F), but it can get as hot as 35˚C (95˚F). This is the rainiest time of the year in Austria. Fall is from September to mid-November with average highs of 14˚C (58˚F).  Finally, winter is from November to February or March and it can get quite cold. Temperatures during winter often drop below freezing with snow. Despite these seasons, the northern and eastern regions of Austria offer a milder climate, the Alpine region features longer and colder winters, while the south of the Alps consistently has temperatures that are five degrees warmer than the rest of the country.
