Germany Best Time to Visit Germany

Germany has a fairly temperate climate. Decisions as to when to travel on German vacations depend on not just weather but events taking place and high and low seasons, and prices for accommodation.

Spring is an excellent time to visit Germany when there is little rainfall and celebrations begin for Easter and spring fairs. Outdoor beer gardens open up. May is generally considered one of the best months to visit Germany.

Summer is the height of the travel season in Germany when you can enjoy warm temperatures combined with long, sunny days. However, it can rain in the summer. It is the time when lineups occur at cultural establishments and accommodation is at its highest.

Fall is another very pleasant time for trips to Germany. It is also the time to enjoy local wine festivals. Prices are more reasonable except at the time of Oktoberfest in Munich. The months of September and October are good times to visit as temperatures are agreeable and there is not much rainfall.

Winter can be cold and certain regions experience snow, fog and rain. Christmas time is when the holiday season is at its peak. However, Christmas markets are prevalent in November as well as in December. For skiers, naturally, in the Alps, this is high season.
