The official language in Lithuania is Lithuanian, which is a language close to Latvian and has two dialects. It is spoken by 90%of the population. However English is considered the most popular second language in Lithuania and is primarily used at most tourist attractions, hotels and restaurants in the city centre.

What currency is used in Lithuania?

The official Lithuanian currency is the euro. Credit cards are widely accepted in Lithuania but it is always a good idea to have some cash.

Do I need a visa to travel to Lithuania?

Lithuania is a Schengen area country. This means that Canadianand  U.S. citizens may enter Lithuania for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes without a visa. Passport should be valid for 6 months after the period of stay in the Schengen area.

When is the best time to travel to Lithuania?

Summer is the best time to visit Lithuania, the temperatures are at the highest and it is also the peak of the tourist season so expect to find crowds. Late spring and early fall are less crowded with nice weather.

How is the transportation within Lithuania?

Buses, trams, trolleybuses are the main form of transportation in the main Lithuanian cities (Vilnius and Kaunas). Underground or metro is unavailable, and in the smaller cities the bus is the only way to get around. Car rental is also a popular option in Lithuania.

Lithuania is considered a safe country with a very low crime rate. Lithuania is full of outdoor activities, lakes, forests and beaches.
