Geography & Maps
Located in the west of Europe, Luxembourg is located between Belgium to the west and north, Germany to the east and France to the south. It is one of the smallest countries in Europe with a population of just under 600,000 of which foreign nationals make up 48% of the population, the majority of which are working for International concerns. Luxembourg is only 82 kilometres/51 miles long and 57 kilometres/35 miles wide.
Luxembourg can easily be reached from most other nearby European destinations and there is a high speed train service from Paris. The terrain of Luxembourg is mostly gently rolling uplands with broad, shallow valleys and is mountainous in the north in the Ardennes region. The Moselle River is one of the major rivers of Luxembourg. Its trajectory along the Luxembourg border forms a natural boundary with Germany.
