What language is spoken in Norway?

The official and most widely spoken language in Norway is Norwegian. English is widely spoken in Norway, and you will usually find all tourist information in several languages.

What currency is used in Norway?

The Norwegian krone is the official currency of Norway. Some vendors in bigger cities will accept Euros. But crucially, they aren't legally obliged to, even though Norway is an EU member. So it is always useful to carry some Krone. Also, credit cards are widely accepted and preferred. 

Do I need a visa to travel to Norway?

Norway is a party to the Schengen Agreement. This means that Canadian & U.S. citizens may enter Norway for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes without a visa. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the period of stay.

When is the best time to travel to Norway?

The best time to travel to Norway depends on your purpose for the trip. June to August have long days and the midnight sun makes it ideal for hiking, cycling or cruising. If you're looking to see the Northern Lights, October and March will be your best option. During the shoulder seasons (spring and fall) the weather is amazing and there aren’t that many tourists.

How is the transportation within Norway?

Norway has a well-developed transportation network. Railway lines are available and reliable. An excellent system of passenger and car ferries makes it easy to access remote parts of the country. Every city and town in Norway has a local bus service, and there is an extensive network of express coaches throughout the country. 

Is Norway a family-friendly destination?

Norway is a natural playground for the whole family. Families have to consider the vast traveling distances from city to city or region to region, although the scenery is breathtaking long travel times could be boring for some family members. Families should check out Lillehammer, less than two hours by train from Oslo Airport.
