Duration
10 Days

Botswana is decidedly an animal viewer’s paradise. Over a third of its terrain is devoted to National Parks offering exceptional game drives. There is also the opportunity to go on safari both in a boat through the wetlands and also in a typical African safari vehicle.

Many have dreamed of going on Safari but may have thought this not possible. Times have changed. Whether you have a mobility, visual or hearing impairment, this safari can be tailor-made around your needs. Families, individuals and groups are all accommodated on this specially designed tour.

Botswana is, without doubt, an animal viewer’s paradise. 38% of the land is devoted to national parks and wildlife reserves in contrast to the Kalahari Desert which forms a large part of the country. The type of landscape here is different from many other destinations offering game viewing, mainly due to the amount of water which covers the land. In Botswana, animals, for the most part, are allowed to roam freely

Arrive at Maun airport and transfer to your lodge along the Boteli River for a 2 night stay. Start your game viewing right away heading to the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, home to over 30,000 zebra and wildebeest. There are also a number of predators. The lodge itself acts as a natural viewing platform above the river. The next day brings 2 game drives.

Leave the Kalahari Desert region and drive to the Okavango Delta where you spend 3 nights at a semi luxury mobile camp. The Okavango Delta is the world’s second largest game reserve and is made up of wetlands and drylands. Its unique ecosystem consists of channels, lagoons, ox-bow lakes and flooded grasslands plus many palm-fringed islands. This attracts 122 species of animals. You have 2 days of spectacular game drives here.

Next drive to the southern end of the Chobe National Park This takes from 4 to 6 hours with numerous animal sightings during the journey. Arrive eventually at the Savute Safari Lodge where you will stay for 2 nights. This area has an abundance of zebra, wildebeest and birdlife as well as many lions and hyenas to be found here. Enjoy a day of game drives.

Then drive to the northern end of the Chobe National Park to the Chobe River where you spend 2 nights at the Chobe Game Lodge. Chobe National Park is made up of flood plains, swamps and woodlands. It is a good place to see 4 of the Big 5 (no Rhino) as well as other wildlife. It is famous for its large herds of elephants and Cape buffalo and it is not uncommon to see hundreds of elephants at a time. An excellent way to go on a Botswana safari here is by boat which will allow you to get up close and personal with hippos and crocodiles. 2 game drives are schedules.

After this, it’s farewell to Botswana as you are transferred to Kasane airport for departure.

Khwai River Area - Okavango Delta

Today after breakfast you will leave the Kalahari Semi-desert area and drive North-West, via Maun, into the famous Okavango Delta. You will drive into a private Mobile Camp set up for you in a private area along the Khwai River, which is the Okavango Delta's eastern outflow. Moremi Game Reserve is surrounded by wildlife management areas and private concessions of the Okavango, with no boundaries between the concessions and the reserve allowing wildlife to move freely between the woodlands in the wet season when water is plentiful and back to permanent rivers and lagoons in the dry season. The Khwai area is managed by the Khwai community through the Khwai Development Trust. This area offers the same wildlife experience as the reserve itself. However, a key advantage of being in this private concession is the freedom to do walking safaris and night drives.

Chobe National Park - Savute Marsh Area

Early morning breakfast at your private Mobile Camp before commencing on a full day game-drive through the Mababe Area and the Southern Part of Chobe National Park to your second destination: Savute Area, which is southern chobe national park. This drive through the wild, can take between 4 and 6 hours depending on the animal sightings and photographic opportunities on the way. Picnic lunch will be served en route.

The Chobe National Park has one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the African continent. The park is best known for its large elephant populations but offers reliable and diverse game viewing, with varied sightings of predators throughout the park.

The Savute area offers a harsh and desert-like landscape in the dry season where the wildlife is supported by the now flowing Savute channel. This contrasts dramatically with the rainy season where the seasonal pans fill with water and the Savute Marsh and surrounds are covered with lush green vegetation that attracts an annual migration of zebra and wildebeest, as well as an abundance of birdlife. The sand ridge, Goha Hills, and the dead trees on the Savute Marsh, offer some spectacular photographic opportunities. The Savute Marsh has been the stage for many of the most dramatic wildlife documentaries in Africa. The wide open country, good ungulate populations and particularly strong prides of lion and hyena clans make for dramatic wildlife interaction and excellent viewing opportunities. The marsh is prime for predators.
