Staying in the heart of Cape Town, your South Africa vacation will allow you to explore this city of cultural conflux and diversity. Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in Africa. It’s located on the Cape of Good Hope and bursts with greenery and plenty of outdoor opportunities as it sits in the shadow of the impressive Table Mountain. You can spend your days however you wish, although it’s recommended you get outdoors to take advantage of the city’s abundant greenery. You’d be wise to also hit up its food scene and feast on the culinary delights that are only made possible by bringing together Afrikaner, European, African, and Xhosa cuisines.

As well, a variety of scheduled day trips can help get you acquainted with the city. You can tour the Peninsula, travelling across the Cape of Good Hope and the incredible hiking paths of Table Mountain National Park, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city and surrounding landscape. You can delve into history with a visit to Robben Island, home to the prison where Nelson Mandel was held for 18 years under apartheid. Today, the prison is a landmark dedicated to the endurance of the human spirit and Mandela’s human rights achievements. If you prefer a lighter excursion while in Cape Town, consider a tour of the nearby Winelands, sampling South African vintages like Pinotage in Stellenbosch and Constantia, or a cooking tour to trendy Bo-Kaap where you’ll learn to make incredible food with the local Cape Malay community.

Cape Town, the mother city of South Africa, and the Western Cape are regarded as one of the most beautiful regions in the world. It is also a rare cultural gem with its mixture of many cultures. In the shadow of majestic Table Mountain lies a diverse city of 3 million people, multiple cultures and endless possibilities.

Days 2-13

Cape Town at Leisure

Although your stay is at leisure, you can certainly take advantage of the optional activities available or simply relax. Some recommended excursions that may be pre-booked include:

Peninsula Tour - explore the Cape of Good Hope on this full-day tour outside Cape Town. As you explore the peninsula, you’ll cruise to Seal Island, wind along the legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive, explore the floral wild of Table Mountain National Park, and visit a penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach

Robben Island: - tour the historical landmark of Robben Island, the one-time leper colony that was transformed into a political prison where Nelson Mandela was held captive for 18 years. As you tour its cells and lime quarries, you’ll come to understand the prison’s importance within the nation’s history and its status as a symbol of triumph over oppression.

Winelands Tour - enjoy a whole day dedicated to the indulgence and splendour of Africa’s premier wine regions of Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. Visit the Huguenot Monument and enjoy fabulous vistas

Cape Malay Cooking Safari - experience the diversity of Cape Town on this guided walk through the historical Bo-Kaap district. This tour focuses on the Cape Muslim people with their Southeast Asian culture and food, and culminates in a visit to a local family’s home to help cook and then savour a traditional lunch.

Great White Shark Cage Diving - witness the wonder of the great white shark in a safe and professional environment, both in a cage and top-side of the boat. This adrenalin-surging experience will leave you in awe of these amazing creatures and their conservation.

And no visit to Cape Town is complete without a tour of the "Mother City". Take a cable car to the summit of the legendary Table Mountain, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, with views of the City and the surrounding layout of this southernmost tip of Africa.
