Kenya fires the imagination as one of Africa’s premier safari destinations. Put your upcoming adventures in context with a day in its exciting capital, Nairobi. You’ll visit the Giraffe Centre and a working elephant orphanage, before lunch in Karen Blixen’s coffee garden. With your afternoon at leisure, relax at your hotel, or immerse yourself in Kenyan culture at the Nairobi National Museum.
The next day, head out on safari, bound for Mount Kenya National Park. Often eclipsed by its peers, this is nonetheless Kenya’s only chimpanzee sanctuary. That’s in addition to being a beautiful destination in its own right, with fantastic wildlife viewing. The snow melt from the mountain provides the country with much of its fresh water.
Fly on to the Masai Mara, Kenya’s most famous national park, famous both for its big cats, and a share of the annual Great Migration. Spend three nights exploring this incredible landscape, with morning and afternoon game drives, keeping your eyes peeled for the Big 5. Alternatively, mix things up with a night safari to catch a glimpse of those nocturnal creatures, or a guided walking safari that brings you up close and personal with the landscape. You can also visit the local Masai, who’ve lived harmoniously with this land for centuries and preserve their traditions today.
Say farewell to Kenya (at least for now!), and hello to Qatar. Doha is one of the world’s great sleeper destinations… for now!
