Extraordinary Cape and Game

Duration
6 Days
Prices From:
US$ 1,356

Combined the best of South Africa, exploring magnificent Cape Town and the surrounding Western Cape, before flying on to Pilanesberg Game Reserve for a chance to spot the Big 5.

This 6-day South Africa safari adventure starts in Cape Town, one of the world’s most picturesque cities, before taking you to Pilanesberg Game Reserve to see the dramatic wildlife.

The Mother City is South Africa at its most urbane and cosmopolitan. An integral part of South Africa’s story, Cape Town is blessed with one of the most dramatic locations on earth, between the Cape Peninsula and Table Mountain. Take a full day Peninsula Tour along the city’s most dramatic coastline, Millionaire’s Paradise, visiting Simon’s Town and the penguins of Boulder’s Beach. Your tour ends at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, or Groot Constantia for a wine tasting, depending on the season. While this takes you to some of the more far-flung sights of Cape Town, a full day to spend at leisure allows you to pick up any sights you’ve missed closer to town. You might take a cable car ride up Table Mountain, visit Robben Island, once the ‘home’ of political prisoners including Nelson Mandela, or take the Walk to Freedom tour to learn about the struggles of Apartheid and beyond.

Fly to Johannesburg, your gateway to Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Positioned at the crossroads of the Kalahari and Lowweld regions, the reserve is unique in its combination of animal, bird, and other species, including Brown Hyena, springboks, and the Big 5 including rare Black Rhinos. Two game drives are included, with plenty of time for additional activities.

Day 5

Pilanesberg Game Reserve

Black Rhino Game Lodge is a hidden treasure set amongst the trees of an old Tamboti forest at the foot of an ancient volcanic crater that today comprises one of South Africa's most exciting Big 5 eco-tourism destinations, the greater Pilanesberg National Park. It is from here, accompanied by your personal game ranger, that you will be able explore a 58,000 ha malaria free wildlife wonderland and discover the magic of the African bush. Located in the west side of the Malaria Free Pilanesberg National Park, and only 33 kilometres from Sun City - Black Rhino Game Lodge is the ideal location for a luxurious bushveld breakaway. The Lodge is built between a Tamboti forest, overlooking a busy waterhole, which is a hive of bird and animal activity, and a playground for the elephant. On many occasions, the stillness of the night is broken by the roaring of lions, and the franklins sing the morning wake up call. Once, you are awakened with a hot cup of coffee, your host ranger will take you out on an exceptional game drive, taking you through Black Rhino Reserve, into the unexplored valley of the Pilanesberg, until we reach the 200 kilo metres network Pilanesberg Park roads.

Unlike any other national game park, the Pilanesberg hosts a combination of animal, bird, insect, reptilian and vegetation species, such as the Brown Hyena, Springbok, Red Eyed Bulbul and Camel Thorn tree. The Pilanesberg National Park is the perfect combination of the Kalahari and the wetter Lowveld. A major advantage of the Pilanesberg is that it is 'Malaria Free', which is not the case with other game parks further north. Sun City, best known for hosting the Million Dollar Golf Challenge and other spectacular events, lies on the border of the Pilanesberg, and is only a 33 km drive from the Black Rhino Game Reserve.
