DELUXE | PRIVATE-GUIDED: Explore the iconic sites of Ancient and Medieval Egypt on this deluxe journey across the nation. Start in Cairo, where you’ll visit the pyramids before flying south to explore the temples of Luxor and Aswan. Connect back to Cairo to see the treasures of the Islamic Empire before relaxing at a resort on the Red Sea.

This 13-day Egyptian vacation takes you from Cairo to Luxor and Aswan and finally Sharm el-Sheikh to explore the treasures of Ancient Egypt and cap it all off with a resort stay. It features deluxe accommodations and private tours.

Your journey begins in Cairo, the Mother of the World and the largest city in the Middle East. You’ll discover the city’s immense cultural and historical influence with visits to ancient temples, medieval markets, and imperial citadels. Get your first taste of the city’s cultural majesty with a food tour that starts in Tahrir Square and takes you throughout the old downtown to try Egyptian dishes like kushari and treats like baklava. The next day, travel back in time with a full-day tour of Giza, Memphis, and Sakkara. Start at Cheops Pyramid, also known as the Great Pyramid, which is the only remaining wonder of the ancient world. Stop off to admire the Great Sphinx, which is mysteriously missing a noise, before visiting Memphis, which was the ancient capital of Egypt. Close out your tour in Sakkara, where you’ll see the oldest pyramid in the nation, the step pyramid of King Zoser.

Fly to Luxor on the Nile River to continue your journey through the land of the pharaohs. On the afternoon you arrive, visit the Temple of Luxor before touring the Temple of Karnak, the largest ancient temple site in the world. The next day, cross the newly-built Luxor Bridge to explore the Valley of the Kings, where you’ll see the tombs of Seti I and Tutankhamun. Continue to the Valley of the Queens to see the elaborate tomb of Queen Nefertari and the colossi of Memnon. Hit the road and drive to Aswan, stopping at the Temple of Edfu and the Temple of Kom Ombo along the way. Reach Aswan, where you’ll celebrate the evening with a magnificent sound and light show over the Temple of Philae. The next morning, you’ll ride a motorboat across the water and explore the temple for yourself, learning about this monument dedicated to the goddess Isis.

Fly back to Cairo and continue your exploration of the Egyptian capital. Start at the Egyptian Musuem, where you’ll admire mummies and treasures from the tomb of King Tutankhamun. Continue to the Citadel to see the most impressive fortification of medieval Cairo, when the city was a capital of the Islamic Empire. You’ll also admire the Mosque of Sultan Hassan from the outside before exploring the winding corridors of Khan el-Khalili, the greatest bazaar in the Middle East.

After several days of exploring Egypt’s history, fly to Sharm el-Sheikh on the Sinai Peninsula, the country’s foremost resort area. Staying at the luxury Four Seasons Hotel Sharm El Sheikh, you’ll enjoy several days at leisure in the resort area, with beautiful views of the Red Sea and access to wonderful beaches and diving sites. Unwind in one of the resort’s four pools or hire an excursion to Ras Mohamed Nature Reserve to dive through coral reefs.

At the end of your stay, you’ll return to Cairo to connect back home.

Half Day East Bank Tour

Drive to the Luxor temple where many festivals were celebrated in Thebes. The Temple of Luxor was the center of the most important one, the festival of Opet. Built largely by Amenhotep III and Ramses II, the temple served as a setting for the rituals of the festival, which was held to reconcile the human aspect of the ruler with his divine office. The procession of images of the current royal family began at Karnak and ended at the Luxor temple.

Karnak Temple was erected in 1928 BC as a small shrine dedicated to Amun, god of Thebes. The Temple of Karnak comprises three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples all constructed over 1300 years. The three main temples of Mut, Monthu, and Amun, are enclosed in enormous brick walls, with the temple of Amun at the center. Karnak is now the largest and oldest temple compound on earth.

Duration4 Hours
Day 5

Full Day West Bank Tour

You will cross the newly constructed Luxor Bridge to visit the Valley of the Kings, which includes the tombs of the Theban rulers, as Seti I and Tutankhamen. Next, tour the mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, the only woman Pharaoh to rule ancient Egypt. Then, proceed to valley of the queens to visit the burials of some royal consorts and offspring. This includes a panoramic stop at the Colossi of Amenhutep III named the colossi of Memnon by the Greeks.

The Valley of the Kings in Upper Egypt is home to many pharaonic tombs of the New Kingdom, including those of King Tutankhamun and Ramses the Great. Most of the tombs were cut into the limestone following a similar pattern: three corridors, an antechamber, and a sunken sarcophagus chamber.

Hatshepsut Temple which is the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut of the 18th Dynasty, but in ancient times the temple was called Djeser-djeseru, meaning the sacred of sacreds. The female pharaoh chose to build her temple in a valley sacred to the Theban Goddess of the west, on a direct axis with Karnak Temple of Amun on the East Bank.

The Valley of the Queens which includes between 75 and 80 tombs is located on the West Bank at Luxor. These tombs belong to queens of the 18th, 19th and 20th Dynasties. Among these is the famous tomb of Nefertiti, one of the five wives of Ramses II. Nefertari was said to be Ramses favorite wife, and her tomb is regarded by many as the most beautiful in Egypt.

Full Day Egyptian Museum Citadel Mosque and Khan Khalili Bazaars with Lunch

The Egyptian Museum is the most important depository of Egyptian antiquities anywhere in the world. It features artifacts from the Pharaonic and Graeco-Roman periods, including the celebrated mummies of ancient Egypt's king and Tut Ankh Amun treasures.

The Citadel situated on a highly visible spur of the Mokattam Hills of Old Cairo, was the nerve center of Egypt for almost 700 years. Construction of the grand structure began in 1176 and was completed by Muhammad Ali Pasha, ruler of Egypt in the late 19th century.

Mamluk sultans and Turkish governors resided in the Citadel, which is among the worlds most splendid monuments of medieval warfare. Facing the Citadel is the Mosque of Sultan Hassan, built between 1356 and 1363 and perhaps the most majestic monument of Arab architecture in Egypt and the Mosque of Al Rifai was constructed in two phases over the period between 1869 and 1912, when it was finally completed.

The tour also includes a visit to Khan ElKhalili, known as the Turkish bazaar during the Ottoman period, was built in 1382 by Emir Djaharks ElKhalili, in the heart of what was then Fatimid City. Until this day, the bazaar is a center of trade and communion in the city, and offers a wide array of antiques, handcrafts of gold, silver and copper as well as numerous old coffee shops and local restaurants which attract both Egyptians and tourists alike.
