FIRST-CLASS | SELF-DRIVE: Embark on a self-drive of stunning beauty through Cape Town, Wellington, the Cederberg Mountains and charming Paternoster. Marvel at the iconic Table Mountain, taste world-famous wines in Wellington, and be enchanted by the rugged peaks and unique rock formations of the Cederberg Mountains. Finally, relax on pristine beaches in the quaint fishing village of Paternoster. Experience the diversity of The Western Cape at your own pace. Unforgettable memories await!
As diverse as it is vast, South Africa’s Western Cape invites you to discover its wonders on an 11-day self-drive round-trip from Cape Town. Explore the Cape of Good Hope, visit the winelands, see the spectacular Cederberg Mountains, and discover why Cape Town is known as the Mother City.
The meeting point between two oceans, the Cape Peninsula offers endless exploration, from spectacular Table Mountain to the adorable penguins of Boulder’s Beach. A full-day tour takes you to the highlights, including Chapman’s Peak Drive with its legendary coastal views. The following day, dive into Cape Town proper, seeing the most notable remnants of its fascinating, if often troubled, colonial past. Visit Company Gardens and the colourful Malay neighbourhood of Bo-Kaap. See Clifton and Camps Bay before having the option to take the cable car (wind permitting) to the top of Table Mountain.
Head to Wellington, a beautiful small town in South Africa’s wine country. Visit some of the estates in the area to sample the vino that’s made this region so famous, or explore the beautiful countryside with a drive through the hills. They won’t quite compare with your next stop, however. The Cederberg Mountains are a range of awe-inspiring jagged peaks with a rich past. You’ll spend three nights in this ancient wilderness area, enjoying its natural beauty and the option (own acct) of a guided rock art tour. Explore at your own pace for an extra day, enjoying the wilderness and wildlife of the region.
Your next stop is the fishing village of Paternoster, where you can enjoy stunning walks along the beach and the nearby West Coast National Park for some extra wildlife viewing. It’s a relaxing last stop before your return to Cape Town and onward travels. Alternatively, spend a few additional days in the Mother City, visiting the former political prison of Robben Island and more.
