The crater of a long extinct volcano is the setting of Pilanesberg National Park. Pilanesberg has survived ages of erosion and stands high above the surrounding bushveld plains. The park exists within the transition zone between the dry Kalahari and wetter Lowveld vegetation, commonly referred to as “Bushveld”. Unlike any other large park, unique overlaps of mammals, birds and vegetation occur because of this transition zone. Springbok, brown hyena, the red eyed bulbul, and camel thorn trees usually found in arid areas are found cohabitation with moist-area-limited impala, black eyed bulbul and Cape chestnut trees.

The central areas include two lounges, the bar and cocktail lounge, a multi-tiered dining room, the conference facility and open air boma.

The central areas were designed using a double volume style to ensure impressive views of the surrounding amphitheater. The large swimming pool has been positioned between the lodge and the new completed water hole.

The lodge offers two game drives daily to guests plus other activities are up for offer (at an extra cost and some require minimum numbers), tribal show, archery, conservation safaris, African marimba band, interactive drumming, quad biking and a percussion band.

Ivory Tree Game Lodge boasts 60 standard rooms, 4 luxury suites, 2 family suites and 1 executive suite. Each features Air conditioners which provide heating and cooling, en-suite bathroom and outside shower, covered patio, tea and coffee making facilities and Mini bar fridge. The 4 luxury suites include all of the above plus a lounge and private plunge pool.
