DELUXE | TAILOR-MADE: Head on a South Africa vacation to the nation’s largest city, Johannesburg, and stay at the 5-star luxury hotel, 54 on Bath. Explore Johannesburg’s robust history in SOWETO before retiring to the hotel to enjoy exemplary service and swank accommodations.
This 3-day South Africa vacation takes you to a distinguished hotel in suburban Johannesburg.
Your trip to South Africa lets you enjoy the luxury amenities of one of the best hotels in South Africa’s largest city. Located in a leafy Johannesburg suburb, 54 on Bath blends intuitive service with premium amenities. Its 75 rooms all come with large beds, 24-hour room service, mini-bars, espresso machines, and complimentary Wi-Fi. The hotel also offers the chance to upgrade to one of 12 executive rooms or three luxury suites that take fine accommodation to a whole other level. Spend your time at 54 on Bath swimming in the rooftop pool or taking High Tea in the popular Level Four restaurant. The hotel is also connected by a sky bridge to the Rosebank Mall, a massive shopping centre with over 650 food and shopping outlets.
During your time at 54 on Bath, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the South Western Township, or SOWETO, a crowded, chaotic neighbourhood that defines the community of the “Rainbow Nation.” On a half-day tour, you’ll visit historical sites like the Mandela House and the Regina Mundi Church, where banned political parties held secret meetings during the years of apartheid. Close out your tour with a visit to Soccer City, the main stadium of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
As a travel company, we deal with and are aware of thousands of hotels worldwide. Obviously, we only decide to include in our programmes those hotels which meet our standards and requirements. However, there are hotels which are outstanding, not just because they are deluxe standard or expensive but because they are special. Goway selects and offers designated hotels under the banner "Stays of Distinction" in the South Pacific, Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Not every selected hotel follows the same criteria for selection. The contributing factors could be any of the following. Stunning location, historical landmark, exceptional service and architectural design plus many other considerations.

Private Half Day Soweto Tour
Today you will enjoy a Half Day Private Soweto Tour. You know the name. It's a legend. SOWETO, acronym for South Western Township, is home to over 2 million people, who, despite living in crowded and chaotic conditions, have a tangible sense of community, one which ironically, the ordered, walled, elitist northern suburbs lack. Inside Soweto, guests visit the Kliptown Open Air Museum where delegates met in 1955 to adopt the Freedom Charter, now the cornerstone of the Bill of Rights and the South African Constitution. This journey continues to Regina Mundi Church, site of many secret underground meetings of the then banned political parties. The next stop is the Hector Pieterson Museum, and discover the cause of the tragic riots which led to his death; guests will pass Mandela House, and give you time to visit this fascinating little museum (own account). Finally we take you past the largest stadium in Africa, Soccer City, host of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final. Soweto is unlike a suburb you've ever seen or been to, yet the history of struggle encapsulated here is a cornerstone of the South African Story.
