Travel back in time and experience the unique Moroccan way of life in the oases and fortified Kasbahs that dot the dramatic landscapes of vast desert, gorges and the Atlas Mountains.


Be invigorated by exotic Marrakech before embarking on this 8 day round trip off the tourist trail in exciting Morocco.

Weave through the High Atlas mountains to the rose festival city of El Kella M’Gouna, and the spectacular valley of Dadess. At Tinghir, roam the markets, sampling the many fruits available from this large oasis in the desert. To the north, the view of 300m high Toudra Gorges will astonish you. You’ll even have the chance to take an optional sunset camel ride.

The colours of the desert come alive at Merzouga, where the spectacular Saharan dunes – particularly Erg Chebbi, which rises 150 metres above the desert – are a photographer’s haven. Stop in at fascinating Berber villages on your way to Tamgroute library, home to 12th century Coranic scripts. Go on to see a different side of Morocco at Ouarzazate, centre of the country’s film industry. Tour the many Kasbahs here, along with Ait Ben Haddou. A film star in its own right, this fortified village has appeared in Lawrence of ArabiaGladiatorThe Living Daylights and Alexander.

Your journey ends with a full day tour of Marrakesh. This is Morocco at its most romantic. A visit to Jemaa El Fna Square offers a stunning array of food and performers, including musicians, snake charmers and fortune tellers. You’ll also visit the 12th century Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace and the Menara Gardens.

Day 1

Arrive in Marrakech

You will be met at Marrakech Airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day at leisure to relax or a take short orientation tour of Marrakech. It is the city that enchants every visitor with its great old Medina surrounded by magic mud walls and its numerous monuments--a charming city with lovely gardens and fresh air.

Day 2

Marrakech to Dades

After breakfast, transfer to Ouarzazate along the magnificent Tizi In Tichka pass through the High Atlas Mountains. Make a brief stop in the village of Skoura before taking the route of 1001 Kasbahs to Kelaat M'Gouna. This village is famous for its rose cultivation, so expect to find many fine, rose-infused products there. Continue to the village of Dades for dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Dades to Merzouga

Tinghir is a big village with a very special charm. It is an oasis rich with various fruits, thousands of palm trees, olives and much more. A morning walk through the old mud houses allows you to make your way through the green oasis along very narrow paths, crossing women coming back from their small green fields on mules backs to feed their domestic animals - this is really an interesting experience! You will continue north to crown your experience in the Toudra Gorges, a wall-like mountain fissure of about 300m. Leave Tinghir via Tinjdad to Erfoud. After visiting Erfoud, continue via Rissani to Merzouga for dinner and overnight by the dunes.

Day 4

Merzouga to Zagora

Take an optional sunrise camel ride along the golden sand dunes in Merzouga before transferring to Zagora via the Amazigh villages of Alnif and Tazarine. Also stop by Tamegroute to visit the village's famous library, which houses ancient Koranic scripts dating back to the 12th century. Dinner and overnight in Zagora.

Zagora to Ouarzazate

After breakfast, enjoy the tour of Zagora including some of the oldest villages in Morocco. Visit the pottery section of Tamgroute then transfer to Ouarzazate along the Draa valley. Optional lunch stop at Agdez then continue the trip to Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight.

Day 6

Ouarzazate to Marrakech

After breakfast, begin city tour of Ouarzazate, including the Taourirt and Tifoultout Kasbahs, which are considered to be among the most beautiful kasbahs in Morocco. Next, visit the film studios where some of the most famous desert landscapes were and are still being shot. Continue on to the spectacular fortress of Ait Ben Haddou, the iconic landscape immortalized in such films as Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, Gladiator, and Alexander. Then, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tiz In Tichka pass to Marrakech for overnight.

Enjoy the guided tour of Marrakech, beginning with the world-famous Jemaa el Fna Square, which houses an array of food, snake charmers, local musicians, and fortune-tellers. Next, visit the Koutoubia Minaret, Bahia Palace, and the Saadian Tombs, before going to the medina to spend free time in the souks. Farewell dinner at local restaurant. Overnight in the Marrakech.
