Kruger to Falls Adventure from Johannesburg
- Duration
- 15 Days
- Prices From:
- US$ 4,674
Spend two weeks immersed in nature at its grandest on this Africa safari. Experience three of the continent’s most dynamic countries, including a South Africa safari, Zimbabwe, and Botswana.
This 15-day trip starts in Johannesburg, the beating heart of modern South Africa, then takes you to some of Africa’s finest parks and reserves including Kruger, Hwange, and Chobe, with two nights at Victoria Falls.
Depart Johannesburg (arrive a day or two early if you want to spend a little time exploring the city’s cultural side), bound for the Blyde River. Here, you’re likely to spot hippos, crocodiles, and other wildlife as they congregate around water. Then spend a day exploring natural highlights such as the Blyde River Canyon and God’s Window, until you reach Timbavati Private Game Reserve in Kruger National Park. A game drive and bush walk helps you find the star attractions, before you spend another full day exploring the broader park. You’ll even visit a local village and school, and learn about the local Venda culture, with dinner in the village.
Crossing into Zimbabwe, explore Matopos National Park, a World Heritage site known for its caves and Bushman paintings, then continue on to Hwange National Park, particularly famous for its population of big cats. Two game drives are included, with the option of adding more activities if you so desire. Your final Zimbabwe stop is Victoria Falls, the legendary ‘Smoke That Thunders.’ You may wish to take a helicopter flight over the falls, walk with rhinos or lions, or take a sunset boat cruise. This is the ‘adventure capital’ of Africa, so there are plenty of activities on offer. You may also want to cross to the Zambian side of the falls, ticking another country off your list.
In neighbouring Botswana, visit Chobe National Park, one of the most active wildlife regions in Africa. Botswana has taken an extremely proactive approach to conservation, and as a result, its safaris are considered some of the best in the world. Enjoy a game drive through the park in the morning, then in the evening, take a sunset game viewing boat cruise, perfect for spotting the animals as they converge on the river at dusk.

Tucked away into an ancient bushman's shelter, Camp Amalinda's charm will leave an indelible impression. Some of the most majestic granite scenery in the world is found in the Matobo Hills. It is here that the hopes, trials and tribulations of the San Bushmen are recorded in the ancient rock art. Mammal and bird species are prolific and include the highest concentration of leopard and black eagle in the world. All suites have been individually designed around great boulders and each differs in ambience in order to create a romantic feel without losing the vital soul of Africa. The lounge and entertainment area is tucked away into a bushman shelter with a panoramic view of the Matobo Hills. At the base of the camp is Amalinda's famous rock swimming pool, naturally shaped and carved over centuries by rain and wind erosion from a massive granite dome. It is here where African memories are made.
