Duration
7 Days
Prices From:
US$ 10,570

DELUXE | TAILOR-MADE: Venture into the heart of the African bush and the vast wetlands of the Okavango Delta to stay in luxury safari camps from Sanctuary Retreats. Enjoy the comforts of 5-star accommodations as you head on two daily game drives to see lions, leopards, and elephants in Chobe National Park and the Moremi Game Reserve.

This 7-day Botswana vacation takes you to luxury safari camps in Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta. It features deluxe accommodations, shared tours, and is great for upscale travellers.

Your safari begins in Kasane, where you’ll connect to Chobe Chilwero, a 5-star safari lodge from Sanctuary Retreats located in Chobe National Park, home to the largest elephant population in Africa. Stay in one of 15 air-conditioned luxury cottages, dine on gourmet meals, and enjoy daily game drives in open-sided safari vehicles, which give you unobstructed sightlines of the animals in the park. You’ll have two full days in Chobe to head on morning and late afternoon game drives to see hippos, buffalo, impala, lions, leopards, and, of course, elephants. At the end of each day, sip cocktails watch the sunset over the African savannah and head on a sundowner cruise to see buffalo and elephants wading in the waters of the park.

From Chobe Chilwero, connect back to Kasane and onward to Chief’s Camp in the Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta. This 5-star Sanctuary Retreats camp takes its name from Chief Moremi, who ruled the land in ages past. The camp transports you back in time with luxury guest pavilions hidden away in the woodland, each with private decks, indoor and outdoor showers, and stunning views of the plains. You’ll have another two full days of morning and afternoon game drives to explore the landscape and see the many predators that populate the reserve, from lions to leopards and the rare African wild dog.

At the end of your stay, connect back to Maun to continue to your onward destination.

Days 2 & 3

Chobe Chilwero

A hearty full English and continental breakfast is prepared by Chef Phinias and served before departing for your morning game viewing activity.

Elephants feature largely on any activity at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero, as the largest population left in Africa occupies this northern corner between Botswana, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe. Game drives in open-sided 4 x 4 vehicles bring these grey giants into easy reach as they drink and frolic at the water's edge in their boisterous herds. Thrilling game drives lead by qualified professional guides bring you close to hippos, buffalos, puku and other animals that gather on the banks of the Chobe River. The puku, a small rusty-brown antelope, alongside impala, kudu and red lechwe, are only a few of the common antelope found here. Naturally, lion and leopard are also found in the area.

The best way to end a day of safari here is sipping on a cocktail while watching an African sunset over the still waters of the Chobe River from the comfort of one of the specially designed riverboats. Sundowner cruises are also a great way of seeing buffalo up close as they come out of the shade to graze in the cooler evenings and elephants as they wade in the river. Chobe is renowned for its abundance of dramatic sable and roan antelopes with their impressive horns. Sitatungas - antelope with splayed feet to help them run in swamps - are often seen here, as are the wild dog and lion that prey upon them.

Day 4

Chobe Chilwero to Chief’s Camp

Following breakfast you will be transferred to the Kasane Airport for your flight to the airstrip at Chief's Camp.

Oh arrival the staff of Chief's Camp will transfer you to the lodge.

Sanctuary Chief's Camp is located in the exclusive Mombo Concession in the Moremi Game Reserve on Chief's island. The Moremi is known as the 'predator capital of Africa'.

The balance of the day is at leisure to relax or begin your exploration of the Moremi National Park.

Sanctuary Chief's Camp is located on Chief's Island, one of the many islands created by the seasonal floodwaters of the Okavango. The island was named after Chief Moremi, the hereditary king of the area who used the lands as his royal hunting grounds. The vast number of animals who congregate here make it easy to understand why the area was put aside for the chief. It was Moremi's people, the Tawana, who turned it into a reserve where animals are protected.

The guest pavilions are hidden away in a jackalberry and sausage tree woodland that is characteristic of the area. All have their own private decks and indoor and outdoor showers. Generously draped mosquito nets and traditional ceiling fans also feature. There is a communal decked living room with stunning views over the floodplains, while the dining area surrounds a fire pit on the very edge of the Piajio plains so that guests can continue their game viewing while enjoying fine cuisine and wines.

Days 5 & 6

Chief's Camp

Wake up early in the morning as your tent attendant brings fresh coffee, tea or hot chocolate to your room - prepared just the way you like it. The rich aroma combined with the excitement of what sightings the African bush might offer today is enough to get anyone up and about. Before departing for your morning game viewing activity enjoy a scrumptious full English and continental breakfast.

Expert guides are always on hand to share their wealth of wildlife knowledge as you explore the Delta in modified open 4 x 4 vehicles on morning and afternoon game drives. The game viewing opportunities at Sanctuary Chief's Camp are awe-inspiring. On the plains one may find the roaming lions that prey on the thousands of antelope, zebra and buffalo who live here all year round. There are also healthy populations of wild dog. These extremely rare predators have been hunted to the point of extinction in most areas of Africa and this is one of their last strongholds. There are several local lion prides and leopards, genet cats and hyena are in abundance.

Your afternoon game drive ends with classic sundowner cocktails and canapes at a specially selected spot. There are few things as spectacular as the sight of an African sunset, especially if you are also lucky enough to hear the call of a fish eagle, as yet another day comes to an end.

Return to the camp for pre-dinner drinks around the boma area as you discuss the sightings of the day with friends and family. Dinner is freshly prepared - in the middle of the African bush.

Day 7

Depart Chief's Camp

Follwoing breakfast and a final game drive, transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Maun.
