Masai Footsteps

Duration
7 Days
Prices From:
US$ 2,296

Discover the famous Masai, a semi nomadic people whose culture and ways have changed little over the centuries. Travel from Nairobi to Amboseli, visiting Masai Mara and Kigio on route.

Believed to have migrated to southern Kenya in the 15th century, the Masai people are one of Africa’s most colourful and unchanged cultures. Get to know them on this 7 day journey, combining a unique look at this fascinating society with plenty of game spotting opportunities.

The vast plains of the Serengeti cross the border into Kenya, becoming Masai Mara. This game reserve is famous for its large population of big cats and the colourful culture of the Masai people. This is one of the best preserved parts of Kenya, where life has changed little in the past century. You’ll enjoy game drives, visit a traditional Masai village, and savour a definitive Kenyan experience, breakfast overlooking hippos in the river. Or opt for a balloon ride at extra cost, for incredible views over the famous ‘endless plains’.

Kigio Wildlife Conservancy is a diverse habitat protecting over 3,500 large mammals including buffalo, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle. Go on to Amboseli, famed as Africa’s best location to get close to free-ranging elephants, as well as zebra, giraffes, cheetahs, lions and many more. Masai culture is also alive and well here, offering you a fascinating and authentic east African experience beneath the awe inspiring peaks of Mt Kilimanjaro.
