Matusadona Cruiser

Duration
4-6 Days
Prices From:
US$ 5,738

Enjoy a cruise on a houseboat on beautiful Lake Kariba, the largest man-made lake in the world, sandwiched between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Sail part of each day with the rest of the time enjoying activities such as fishing, game viewing and sunset cruises.

This cruise takes place on Lake Kariba, the world's largest man-made lake and reservoir by volume. It lies along the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The lake is enormous and spectacular with the silhouettes of jagged Zimbabwean mountain peaks reflected on the shimmering waters. The Zambian side of Lake Kariba is not nearly as developed as the southern and eastern shores in Zimbabwe. On the Zimbabwean side are national parks and wildlife areas.

Board the Matusadona Cruise boat for a 3 night cruise. The boat has 3 decks including the saloon deck which has a lounge area, 2 dining areas, a fully equipped galley and the wheel-house and the upper deck, with its large open seating and alfresco dining areas plus a bar and Jacuzzi where you can see splendid views of Kariba, its wildlife and scenery.

Once on board, you are invited to plan your route with the cruise manager. Mooring has to be carefully planned daily for reasons of safety and to provide you with peaceful but beautiful overnight mooring spots.

You will set off for a new destination each day. Once moored, guests can enjoy an afternoon activity such as fishing, game viewing or a sunset cruise.

Day 1

Arrive Kariba

Board Matusadona at Marineland and set off onto Lake Kariba before lunch.

Once boarded, you are invited to plan your route with the cruise manager. Mooring has to be carefully planned daily for reasons of safety and to provide you with tranquil and beautiful overnight mooring spots at the same time.

The Captain sets off for a new destination daily after brunch, allowing guests to travel the lake and relax during the heat of the day. Once moored (usually between 2.00pm and 3.30pm), guests can enjoy an afternoon activity: fishing, game viewing or a sunset cruise.

Matusadona does not sail alone. She is accompanied by 2 tender boats and a speed boat for game viewing, sunset cruises and angling.

The average three and a half engine hours per day will allow the vessel to cover large distances daily, steering away from the majority of other vessels on the Lake to find that special peace and tranquility of Lake Kariba.

Day 3

Cruising Lake Kariba

Another day on the lake, and another chance to try your hand at fishing, or set out on the game viewing pontoon - a completely different experience to land- based game viewing, watching a herd of elephants coming down to drink, so close you can almost touch them, their calves frolicking in the water with their mothers suspiciously standing by, is a truly memorable experience.
